No wonder she was a little jumpy. Owen nodded eagerly to show he understood. "What's special about tonight?" He sniffed the rose in his hands again. It smelled nice... Who wouldn't want to be here? He didn't find it at all weird that he had just seen someone die. The world kept going on and no one was the wiser.

She smiles. "What isn't special about tonight?" Another gust of cool wind picks up not too long after her statement and carries into the air the loose rose petals of the festival. Their fragrance gets stronger and the petals look like they are dancing in the air, some even seem to glow as the lanterns cast a beautiful golden light. Some of the people stop to watch the petals dance in the air, making "ooh"s and "aah"s.
Dez continues. "This event is special because of the roses. They are blood red as a reminder of mortality and how life is fleeting but if you can make something beautiful it, then no matter how fleeting life it is." The wind dies down to nothing, the petals fall to the ground and a few sparce claps are heard before they too stop. "It's a life to be celebrated."

As the petals flew into the sky, Owen watched. He seemed to focus on nothing else, completely enamoured by what he was seeing. The scent of flowers rising, the crowd growing in anticipation to see what the wind would do next.
None of Dezolina's words caught him. He was lost in a trance, thoughts crossing with each other until he was in his own little world watching the reds flicker against the night.

Dezolina stopped talking and looked at Owen.
'Good grief, he zoned out...Wait we could use this.'
Penelope took a prudent step to the side ready to bolt.
"See... ya." Her heels dug into the ground ready to leave Owen in the dust (or crowd? Maybe in the petals?)

Owen's attention was brought back as she announced her leave. He looked over at her as she was just about to go, to her disdain, probably.

He nodded. He wasn't that hungry but the idea of food sounded nice right now. He held the rose in his hand to his nose the closer they got to the stall. He kind of liked the rose smell better than the food.

He nodded as soon as she mentioned the reap. "Someone died nearby." He almost didn't stop before the stand with her, seemingly distracted by himself speaking. He took a step too many and simply took one back to make sure he was standing beside Dezolina.

He looked at the food, and after sussing it out a little, he put it in his mouth. It tasted delicious. Possibly could've been more salty, but to him tastes were dull unless it was incredibly strong. "It's tidy." He commented.
