LOOKS LIKE SHE HAD JUST NO LUCK!! Gabrielle got caught. Well calculated tears of disappointment shot into her eyes. Looks like they had no choice but to go to the party. Looking up at the younger guard, she gave her best tearful small girl impression. "Are you sure she's at the party?", she asked in a small voice.

Well, it seemed that neither of the girls were successful in trying to escape past the guards. Kit wasn't too surprised by that, and they were glad that they hadn't tried to run with them. Being grabbed off of the ground by a security guard like that probably would have made them completely panic. Maybe they would find a way in later, but for now, it wouldn't hurt to check out the party; after all, what if what they were searching for ended up being there?
As they started to turn the other way, they took a last glance at each of the guards, holding a stare that looked colder than usual from them. They, of course, had to wonder about just what was being guarded beyond the garden, but that would apparently have to wait. They picked up the pace and hurried after Eilis, deciding to follow her unless it proved to be inconvenient. She was the only one whom they knew and at least trusted somewhat.

They're just going to run through? You're kidding, right? Harvey watched incredulously as the two women made a mad dash for the gardens. Seriously? If anybody could just get away with that, they wouldn't have bothered posting guards here. And even if they did, it'd just mean a lot more trouble for later. They were in enough danger under the rumors of hunters without the frustrated living getting into the mix. Harvey admitted he did some dumb things himself sometimes, but never like this, not that he could recall.
As was expected, both were caught mid-stride, and that was the end of their short-lived escapade. "Woah, you two; where's your chill?" Harvey muttered, mostly to himself. At the very least, Cliona seemed to have resorted to verbal aggressiveness rather than physical; getting in a fistfight with a human would've undoubtedly been the stupidest thing Harvey'd seen an apprentice do. Then again, he hadn't been around for a long time....Regardless, he couldn't see why Cliona had such a huge issue with two guys doing their jobs. Someone had certainly woken up on the wrong side of the grave. Gabrielle was something else entirely; nothing had dampened her desire to see her double dead mother who had apparently walked into a party full of people who were alive and well, which was admirable, at least...provided she wouldn't be further influenced by Cliona's impulsive actions.
Harvey wasn't sure if the guards would as easily forget them provided the increased visibility apparently in play on Hallow's Eve, so he stepped forward and blurted, "Sorry about that...She's awfully stubborn, and she's not in a particularly good mood tonight." He glanced over at Cliona as she marched into the party; hopefully the latter assumption was true, otherwise he didn't think he could put up with her for much longer. He put a hand on Gabrielle's shoulder and gave his best smile, hoping it was enough to buy the guards' dismissal. "We'll stay away from the gardens and check if the person we're looking for just went back to the party after all...Thanks."
((Haha do I have to make a CHA check or sth OAO))

Penelope had her hands stuffed deep into her hoodie pockets as she watched the two girls fail in their attempt to get past the guards. It wasn't as fun as she'd thought. Furthermore no one seemed to pay attention to her. She shrugs and starts walking to the party. Eilis' little explosion had put her on the top of Penelope's crazy list (aka "If confronted eliminate with extreme prejudice") She didn't feel like sticking around with the rest of the apprentices why should she? They knew each other but not her thus she had no reason to keep with them.
"The food better be good at least." Penelope mumbles as she leaves the hedges ignoring the voice in her head.
'We could've taken them out no problems.'
Yeah.
Right.

EILIS, KIT & PENELOPE
While Harvey and Gabrielle remain behind to chat and negotiate with the guards, Eilis, Kit and Penelope have chosen to head back to the party. As you near the hedge that Gabrielle had led you through, the ornate sign from before beckons invitingly at you. As you proceed along the party-destined path through the hedge, the sounds of wine glasses clinking, people chatting merrily, and laughter fill the air. As do fragrant aromas of food. There are lavish spreads of food for guests to help themselves to, elegantly dressed waiters and waitresses expertly balancing many glasses on their trays, holding one out to any guest who so requests a drink. People are generally dressed smart-casual, though an occasional few appear to be more casual than others. The garden is illuminated by countless lights hanging elegantly from strings, giving the appearance of fairy lights, and an overall ethereal fantasy setting. “Welcome, welcome~” A warm voice suddenly interrupts your observation of the party scene, as a handsome man in a black button-up shirt lined with gold trimmings steps forward to welcome you. If you focus your eyes around him, you will be able to see a pristine white thread floating around his lean frame. “I suppose you are friends of Biotech’s employees. Or maybe, employees yourselves? Really, we have so many employees, it’s hard to keep track! Forgive me if I am unable to recall your name,” He gave an apologetic smile, and a low bow at this. “Nevertheless, the fact that you are here, indicates that you are a guest. And thus, you are welcome here,” He elegantly bows once more and gestures inward towards the party. If you look toward where he is gesturing, the party beckons towards you. All the guests seem to be humans, and white threads shimmer magically around their bodies, as if reflecting the light from the deco. Certain guests, however, might stand out to you if you are observant enough: - A particularly loud voice might catch your attention, as a bearded, middle-aged man laughs obnoxiously to the guest he is with. He is slapping a poor, scrawny looking bespectacled young man on the back, probably in playful affection, and seems to be relating something that is the cause of his joyful demeanour. The scrawny, bespectacled man is pulling nervously at his shirt cuffs, looking very much like he does not want to be there.
- Or perhaps, a certain woman who is unglamorously downing glass after glass of champagne alone at a table might tug at your heartstrings. Her makeup is slightly smudged, and she is heavily resting her forehead against the back of her hand as she downs yet another glass in a single swallow just as you look her way.
Do you head straight into the party? If so, do you approach anyone, or simply choose to play it low key? Or do you hesitate and stay to talk to the handsome man at the entrance? The choice is yours. NOTE: On any other day, these guests will probably not be able to see you, but it is October, after all, where the barrier between the living and the dead draws to its ultimate transparency.(( it’s no worries at all, kuro! apologies for my lateness too! ))

Penelope looked at the party with a keen eye. The lady looked interesting but she was drunk and drunk people either complain too much or were just awkward.
The young man and older guy? They seemed like a good conversation. On the other hand, if she was on a receiving end of one of those slaps she'd slap back, even her kindness had limits.
Blend in? Maybe.
The guy who welcomed them? Eh, perhaps...
Penelope eyes the young man through her mask. Thanking the young man she goes up to the young man and older guy. Her sisterly instincts kicking in causing her to walk over. If she could help she would.

Kit wasn't all that interested in the party, but after looking around for a few moments, their attention was grabbed by a sorrowful woman who was draining glasses of alcohol at a speed that was most definitely not normal or healthy. They were surprised that nobody was trying to make her stop, and pretty much instinctively gravitated towards her, pulling their scarf away from their face a little so that their voice wouldn't be muffled.
"Hey there, miss." They sat down next to her without a thought, sliding the glasses that weren't empty away from her and towards them. "Can I ask why you're so sad that you're downin' champagne like shots?" They leaned back a bit, hands in their pockets with a slightly more emotive expression than usual on their face. The smudged makeup, tears, and worryingly-fast alcohol consumption reminded them quite a bit of their mother. Was that the only reason why they wanted to help her? Maybe so. "It's probably not my place to ask you, but I'm gonna anyway." So much for following Eilis...

The area fairly bright as they came to the entrance; taking at the time of night with the added effects from the threads, the new surrounding area was just... breathing taking. Maybe she should have just come here earlier.
A man interrupted her thoughts catching her off guard but speaking the the whole group... so this was a company party of the sorts. Yay... She sighed but with a smile, Eilis thanked the man then went to the refreshments. Food... drinks... this is where her time would be wasted away. A few snacks in and working on a nice glass of champagne, loud laughing started to just get irritating to listen to, moment... by moment.
Her eyes focused over to the source. There the older bearded man and a young soul, who maybe needed saving. She was told to soften up over the decades... little by little, Eilis cracked. Maybe this was her chance to do so more in the process, help another. The Irish woman fixed her posture, along with the straightening of her sweater, skirt, and thick sticking combo. She quickly downed the glass grabbing another, as a prop. Her steps forward began. No... turning... back... Eilis COULD do this.
Upon coming up to the group, she giggled and came off a bit tipsy, though it true or not. One arm wrapped around the younger males and the acting started. "Oh dear... there you are. I was just talking to Simon about this... thing but I need you to tell him more." Her focus switched to the other who had batted at the younger individual. "May I steal my boyfriend?... I really need him... if you know what I mean." With a wink, and a sinking feeling of not believe in what she was doing, Eilis lightly pulled, bit by bit, the younger male away. Stumbling every so often to sell her drunk story. When the chance was given, she lifted to her tip toes to whisper in his ear. "I'm really sorry about this... You looked uncomfortable..." Maybe this would help? She only hoped. Helping people was normal but doing something like THIS to do so? Something new...

PENELOPE & EILIS
The two ladies have decided to approach the middle-aged man with the beard and the scrawny looking young man. The bearded man is still talking incessantly even as they approach, and the two do not even notice that the girls are there with them till Eilis’ arm wrapped around the shoulder of the younger male.
“E-excuse me, Miss?” He stuttered at her as he is pulled away, giving her a look of pure confusion, mixed in with the timidness of a mouse as his eyes stare at her in puzzlement. He is too afraid and confused by the whole ordeal to resist Eilis’ dragging him away. It was unclear as to whether he would have preferred her or the middle-aged man’s company…
When they are some distance away, and Eilis speaks to him once more, he still appears dazed and confused as to what she has done for him.
"Wh-who are you, Miss? Which d-division are you fr-from?"
Meanwhile, the bearded man stares at the two for awhile, before he bursts into obnoxious, booming laughter, noticing Penelope as well standing by him.
“Well, I’ll be a gibbon’s uncle, I never did think a man like that would end up with a woman like that!” He boomed at Penelope, a look of disbelief ridden on his features. He called a waiter bearing some champagne glasses over, motioning for him to offer one to her.
“One for the little lady, please. I’ve enough!” He chuckled, clapping the waiter on the back and almost causing the server to tip over all glasses her was currently balancing on his tray. The server fought to keep his composure and a calm smile, although mild irritation is evident in his features. He holds the tray of drinks out to Penelope to choose.
As if oblivious to what he has done, he simply beams cheerfully at the server, then at Penelope. He seems to have found....another target. And he appears thoroughly thrilled at this.
"You're just in time, little miss, man, do I have a story for you!"
KIT
The woman doesn't look up from her position, but nods weakly to acknowledge Kit's presence.
"Do not pay heed...to a wretched soul like me..." Her voice was raspy, and choked with tears, typical of someone who has been crying for a duration of time. "...even though...if you are working here too...you are probably just as wretched...a soul as I..."
Pushing herself off of the table, she clumsily wipes some stray tears from her eyes, turning to look at you. Her actions completely do not help with the smudged makeup.
“We are all...wretched souls...who deserve...nothing of the riches...of this wretched company..." She smiles miserably at you, reaching for another glass of champagne to down.
"We are all wretched souls...meant to go down...in the end."

Kit reached after the woman's hand to pull it away from the drinks, guiding it back to her lap with a little pat. "Miss, I really don't think you should have more drinks. You'll regret it later if you do that, I promise." They looked more sympathetic now after she'd shared her thoughts. It was strange that they related to those words so much, but they did. "It won't help you." They sighed solemnly, sitting up and leaning towards her a bit while they spoke. "I don't work for the company, no... but it reminds me of the... the company that I do work for." They averted their eyes for a moment, feeling like saying that was somehow a betrayal on its own. "A-anyway, what makes your company wretched? And why are the people that work for it the same?"

KIT
The woman makes no move to resist your your hand, allowing you to put it on her lap without any struggle. She simply squints at you, as if she cannot believe that you actually care about her well-being.
"You must be a friend…of one...of these wretched souls, then…" she slurred, gesturing clumsily at the crowd around the two, choosing not to respond to Kit's well-meaning warnings about how the alcohol wouldn't help her. Instead, she slammed her forehead loudly into the table before the two, effectively planting her face on it. No one around you seems to be bothered by this, though. They're all too busy making merry.
"…here at Biotech, we strive to bring you the best products at the forefront of biotechnology-" She suddenly started speaking again, as if repeating a well-rehearsed line in speech, "-unlike any other. We guarantee quality, affordability, reliability, and a whole crappin' load of bullshit…"
A sudden sob is heard as she fights to stop herself from crying, stuffing a napkin between her face and table. If she didn't appear so miserable, this would actually have been quite a comical sight.
"…how much…did your friend...tell you...about this wretched company?" She asks, not looking up from her face-plant in the table. "You know… The one…who brought you here…?" She gave a dry, mirthless laugh at this before continuing.
"Probably not much…eh? Otherwise…you probably wouldn't even…be here…"

Penelope has no idea what she just got herself into but at least the gut seemed fun enough; however, one too many hits on the back and she'd punch him.
"An interesting story huh? Please do tell me I'm dying to hear it." Haha death puns.
She takes one drink from the waiter but doesn't enjoy it just yet.

((Sorry huhu, I'm still alive!! TvT I thought the guards might respond too but I'll just have Harvey move on~))
The two guards didn't seem to push the issue, so before they could change their minds, Harvey turned to the party the others were headed towards, goading Gabrielle in the same direction. "Let's go," he whispered discreetly. "If you want to look for your mom so bad, we can find another way through later." Of course, none of this would be a problem if it weren't Halloween season. Sometimes Harvey forgot how convenient it was to be invisible. Now that they could be seen by all these threaded people, they'd have to be a lot more cautious...He hopes the ones with the short tempers remembered that much, at least.
The party was even more pleasant up close, and seeing as every guest had the glimmer of a white thread above them as far as Harvey's squinting could see, he figured it might be alright to relax a bit. Stiffness was not something he was used to, and considering that this was a gathering of living people, a hunter would probably refrain from doing anything drastic...well, unless they were all hunters, in which case they were screwed the moment they stepped into this place. But hey, what were the chances of that?
"Man, that guy invited us here but didn't even tell us the party was going to be an outdoor thing. Come to think of it, he didn't tell us much at all, and I can't even see him anywhere around here...Probably went to take a piss or something." Harvey said vaguely to the man who seemed to be an usher or something. Might as well bluff for information. Maybe find another way into the garden, so they could get this over with and go home, because Harvey was sure at least Gabrielle wouldn't leave before ascertaining the truth of those dumb rumors. "Hey, so...I've actually never heard of this place before. Those guards over there said it was a private garden?"

Eilis sighed hearing the man's voice. It was as if he was squeaking every little sound his voice made. Really... She tried to save THIS guy and now asking questions. Ungrateful, much? Now being on trial the Irish woman grabbed a glass from one of the trays floating around as waiters walked around. Within seconds the drink was gone. Still no buzz... Man, the one time she wished she could feel something easier as an apprentice.
Her eyes rolled lightly as coming with excuses wasn't her thing. Her skills of smooth talking? Non Existent. Here she started, hopefully it wouldn't sound like total crap. "My brother invited me to the party. He's the employee and I'm sorry to say I don't know anything about the type of work you all do..." Eyes finally met his only to have them look down upon him out of sympathy. "Look... I was just trying to help. You seemed a bit uncomfortable back there..." She dusted him off from where she embraced the man then turned away."Kind of like how you look right now. I'll leave you alone to enjoy the party again. Have a great rest of the time. I'm sorry to have bothered you, Mister." Back to the refreshments of the party seemed like her new target, yet once again. This party just isn't what she was hoping for either. The thought of just leaving even began to cross her mind.

((Sorry my bad! Really really REALLY sorry for the lateness! ;v; )) GABRIELLE & HARVEY The younger guard caught Gabrielle but the moment he did so he let go as if he had been shocked by her. ‘Are you sure she is at the party?’ Gabrielle’s voice “Yeah I think so...I mean, your description was pretty vague…” The younger guard said but his voice started to trail off. Unconsciously, he took a step back in caution. These ‘kids’ seemed perfectly normal but there was something about them close up that was….unsettling. In the guard’s mind he was searching for a word. They seemed as if they were...missing something. Something important. Something that all humans should have. He nearly jumped out of his shoes when the older guard clamped a hand on his shoulder.
“Whoa there, what’s got you spooked?” The older guard laughed and turned to the remaining apprentices as they were about to leave (if they all leave). “You guys don’t get into trouble!” He called out in fatherly concern and chuckled. “There is something different about those guys. Don’t you think they are kinda strange?” The younger guard whispered to the other. His concern was brushed away. “Strange? No they’re just kids. You’ll understand once you have some of your own.” The older guard whispered back in sagely knowledge. The other guard gave his counterpart a slim hesitant smile and his eyes flickered back to the entrance where the apprentices came from.
--------------
The man by the door, presumed to be the usher, was momentarily distracted. He was looking off into the party at a woman who looked to be drunk and a pink haired apprentice talking to her. There was a frown on his face, his brows knitted together in stern displeasure. However, upon Harvey’s arrival, the man’s expression sprung back into a smile, a well practiced one that can hardly be distinguished from real or fake.
“Oh hello, hello! Welcome to Biotech’s annual autumn party.” He said with a chipper voice as he saw Harvey. “You never heard of the New York Botanical Gardens?” He asked Harvey with a tilt of his head and then as if he suddenly got a joke, he laughed. “Oh you mean, THIS area of the gardens. Yes yes, the New York Botanical Gardens is 250 acre of precious space, all owned by the City of New York all except for one. One acre.” He clicked his tongue and tapped his nose as he leaned to tell Harvey a secert. “Owned by Biotech.” He said softly with a smirk and then stood straight back up again. “Very recently purchase, cost us a fortune but we had a VERY good year. Not without some expenses of course.” He cleared his throat and looked back at at Harvey.
“And you? Are you..the son of one of our employees or our sponsors?” He asked with a polite smile. He didn’t quite buy the info that Harvey was feeding him or maybe he just didn’t hear him.
