Hallway to Team Statice's dorm room. It is midnight.
The heels of her boots clopped dully on the marble floor. In the dead of the night that clung the lonely hallway, the sound amplified itself into a loud rhythmic noise. Amsteria pulled her gloves off, and slips them into the inner pocket of her blazer as she continues to stride down the moonlit hallway. It was another reap-order complete. As per habit, she had been there to see how it unfolded. Family car unfortunate enough to be struck by an 18-wheeler on an intersection. The car had flipped multiple times, and no one survived that one. She sighs, stops for a moment to study the grouting of the floor, and continues her walk. Usually she would never opt to go out on a dark night for a walk to anywhere, but hey she was dead and this place only had dead people. What could be deadlier than that? Amsteria stuck her hands in her pockets and wondered if she should go get something to drink, like juice or hot milk. Maybe just water. She smiled wryly. She was dead, yet she craved for something like she was still alive. It must be the time. They called it midnight madness? Or was it midnight bug bites? Nonsensical thinking in the light of the moon. Her left hand fidgets in her pocket. Perhaps it was still too soon for her to be as nonchalant as Joakim and Shorinaga. She still felt too alive when it was past her regular sleeping hours, and sometimes worries about work tomorrow. There is no work at the office tomorrow, she reminds herself. There never will be, ever again. With a vigorous shake of her head and light smacks on her cheeks, Amsteria decides to go for juice, and distracts herself with the route to the nearest juice dispenser.

The pros to early knock off from his medic shift were undeniable.
Leaning on the wall, he sat comfortably in the dark, only illuminated by the brightness of his phone screen. How long has it been since he did not fall asleep instantly? Perhaps a year or two; that's how his job has took a toll on him. But apparently not tonight.
Grim was wide awake at the dead of the night. That was the only con.
Light workloads of the day did not sufficiently tire the man out to guarantee a sound sleep. The glaring light from his phone was not helping either and he was beginning to consider alternative ways to pass time. Glancing past his phone, he wondered whether the lass would return before 2AM. Night reap orders were common but he usually did not take note of that, given his sleep habits. He considered to text Amsteria but opted not to, for fear that the lady would question his decision of staying past bedtime. As if he had a bedtime, he scoffed defiantly at the absurd thought.
The contents on his smartphone that entertained him an hour ago was becoming dull, blinding light of endless scrolling. Bored to tears, Grim jumped off his his bunk lightly and headed towards the hallway. Maybe a light walk would do the trick.
Shutting the door carefully behind him, the young man grinned as he noticed the returning office lady at the dispenser diagonally opposite of their room. As glad as he was that she was back, the man took his steps cautiously, earnestly wishing that she would not realise the missing medic.

Lemon juice, apple juice. Mango nectar...honeydew milk?
Amsteria frowns at the selection available, hand to her chin in thought. She had wanted juice but she had not actually thought of which juice. It was no problem considering the amount of time a dead person has, but then again she was not one to loiter on a simple matter...such as juice. Ah well. She shrugs and looks away as she pushes a random button. You only live once, she thinks.
It so happened that she decided to look over her right shoulder, to where the team room would be. As she pushed the button, the door opened quietly and a short figure emerged. It seemed to have looked at her for a moment, before proceeding to sneak along the wall of the slightly darkened, yet moonlit, hallway. It was Grim. She can tell, considering he was the only one that short. Amsteria raised a brow. What was he doing sneaking around like that?
It struck her that Grim could probably be up to his pranks again. Why else would he need to slink like a burglar in the night? She bends over to the dispenser's bin, where a can of unknown juice was already sitting in wait. Weighing it in her hand, Amsteria guessed that Grim would be able to dodge this. She was just going to aim for his belly. Drawing her arm back, she threw the can at him.

One step at a time, he tiptoed slowly away from their room. It was a risky decision to be out and the inappropriate moonlight was actually on him. Sort of like a makeshift spotlight.
Rubbing his eyes, he felt a blunt hit on his abdomen as he winced. "Ow, what was that for?!" He frowned as he picked up the fallen object: Apple Juice with 5% Alcohol. What a terrible choice. Glancing back up at the culprit, he squinted to see her expression, but to no avail. Glasses, back in the room, he was mentally reminded. Sighing softly, he simply gave a sheepish smile as he subtly inched away. Play it cool.
"Ah... Amsteria, welcome back! Didn't see you zere... Oh wow, look at ze time? You should probably get some rest...I'll just... toilet!" He cooked up some half-hearted excuses, displaying a strong stance. Perhaps the lady would buy into his confident outlook. Perhaps Amsteria would let him go. Perhaps she wouldn't realise that he was in fact... heading the opposite direction from the washroom.

Amsteria does a small fist-pump. Score!
She wondered what that drink was, and began to walk forward to meet up with Grim and that can of whatever-it-was as he sheepishly greeted her. His manner of speech and stance in general reeked of a prankster ready to prank...or at least a nervous worm under a magnifying glass. She sighs as he exclaims he was going to the bathroom.
Bathrooms were in the direction she came from. The direction he was going was to another main hall. Grim, you can't lie to a pathfinder. She purposefully diverted her steps and ends up standing some distance away from him. He would have to walk by her in order to get to where his 'toilet' was. She doesn't mean to pry into her teammate's affairs, but if it was a prank she just cannot let that slide.
Amsteria crosses her arms. "If you were going for a smoke, you could just say so. BUT," she emphasizes the connector word, "you never worried about smoking in the room," Amsteria leans forward slightly, her eyes glinting in the moonlight.
"Are you going to perform a prank, Grim?"

Smoking, she says? The german boy could feel a small tug at the corner of his lips. Oh boy, brilliant. There was a momentary pause as the imaginary cogs in his mind began to turn.
"No, Ma'am! Cross my heart, zero pranks tonight!" He replied in a sing-song manner, with a wide, warm smile across his face. "I guess now's a good time to start changing my location to smoke, don't you zink?" Cocking his head to the side, he gazed innocently at the lass. He supposed it was difficult to persuade the lady after all, with the brief silence after his question. No good, he had to get the lady to move along with him.
"Have some faith in me, will you? You could come along with me if you don't believe me." With a short chuckle, he gave a soft pat on the lady's back and handed her back the can of drink. "And no more throwing please. Unlike Joakim or Shorinaga, I'm not a meat wall!"

Amsteria tilts her head at him, arms folded across her chest. Her posture leaned backward, and she looked like a bird peering down at her prey. She did not intend to shred him in any manner. Teammates were teammates, after all, but she had a feeling that he had something else to his nervous demeanor. She uttered a low and long 'HMMMMMMMMMM', pondering deliberately.
"I'm not quite sold on you not doing a prank, Grim," she finally says, squinting at the younger German. "But if you insist on letting me join you and possibly stop you, well. That sounds good," she continued, agreeing to his offer to come along. Amsteria was not exactly tired, per se, and the night was moonlit. There was something charming about wandering these dark halls of the dead at night.
She takes the drink from Grim's extended hand, apologizing. She forgets that he was not exactly warrior built in any way, and hoped that her throw lost most of its momentum in reaching him. Amsteria looks at what her random pushing, and subsequent throwing, had yielded.
'Apple Juice - 5% alcohol' was scrawled over the can's exterior, ribbons flowing by under and above the text. Who the heck puts alcohol in juice?

Although her way of response was less than desirable, Grim merely shrugged. "Ouch, Amsteria. But vhatever floats your boat." He said lightly, in a joking manner. He had to admit; it was indeed pretty suspicious to be out at this unearthly hour. Plus, he was being rather sneaky for obvious reasons. Still, it did not warrant surveillance from his team-mate. So much for freedom. But hey, he has got a new source of entertainment.
"So, zat drink. A fairly terrible choice, I'd say. Ze alcoholic part is practically non-existent." The blonde casually shared, as her attention stayed on the drink. Would she drink it? He hoped so. Her guard was certainly still up, he assessed, but she has yet to notice the sticker he had subtly pasted on her back with the pat. Just a little get-back for the throw. It still hurt a bit. Hmm... more testing is needed.
"I'm really just going to the wash-room... Are you sure you vant to follow?" The young man teased with a brow raised, with all the implications in mind.

Amsteria laughed at Grim's insistence of going to the washroom. It was a light laugh, above a chuckle. She handed him the drink instead.
"Although I doubt its alcohol content, I do not want to risk drinking it this late." If anything, she knows that she was a lightweight drinker, and anything like a can of beer could easily make her a tad beyond tipsy. She had a half-lie in her statement, however. Being drunk at night would mean easier sleep, but she mainly did not want to risk getting drunk with Grim. It was not ill-meant...just uncomfortable.
Grim did not need to know that, however.
Amsteria tilted her head in the direction she came from. "I doubt you going to the restroom because the restrooms on this floor are that way, Grim," she raised her brows. Just what exactly was he planning to do...?

With his excuse blatantly exposed, he simply laughed and leaned against the wall. "Maybe I don't really have to go after all." It was a sort of a final chance for Amsteria and himself, to let the matter rest and just let him roam the night. But no, Grim was probably going to be stuck with the sole female of his team for a little longer now.
Rolling the cool can in his palm, Grim merely glanced at the labelled drink. It was definitely something he could handle. Maybe it could even fix his state of mind right now. Popping the can open, he returned it back to the lady first. "Just a sip, it's yours after all. I promise I'll finish ze rest if you can't take all of it." If luck was on his side, maybe she would pass out and he could continue on his solo journey. Of course, that was just absurd, he mused with the thought.
"Do you always follow people you find suspicious?" He asked honestly, hand reaching in his pocket for his cigarette pack.

Amsteria watches as Grim pops the can open, only to hand it back to her. What, were they playing can hockey now? She huffs, her stance now tilted to one side as her left foot tapped the ground in slight impatience. Grim was pretty adamant about being alone, and she was this close to just letting him go, but the actions he was doing were just feeding her suspicion of him going out to do something like sticking cigarettes in some poor bloke's nostrils.
She really did not want to take a sip of 5% alcoholic juice, but perhaps it would not be strong enough to cloud her judgement. With a sigh, she takes the can and takes two swigs before giving it back to him. It tasted quite acidic...it could have been apple cider for all she knew. There was the after-burn of alcohol, alright. She was glad she was not going to chug the whole can down.
"As a matter of fact, I do. It was my job as a living human, Grim," she answered, watching him take out a stick from his pack. It was no lie, technically. She had to observe people and make sure that they were doing their jobs well. There was always the possibility of fraud...or embezzlement. She had to stay on top of those things. She coughs slightly from the alcohol, and pulls a pout at Grim.

"Oh, was it?" Wondering along the same lines, he mentally questioned whether if it was similar to those higher ranking war soldiers that periodically checked on their soldiers to maintain total control. Not that he had actually been checked on, but his brother's experiences allowed him to live vicariously in his shoes.
Then again, it was the 21st century. Things must've changed. It was still a bothersome habit if she were to be snooping around, especially since that's what he would do in his free time. Opportunities for information was so difficult to pass. Perhaps he could form temporary alliance with her someday on his ventures.
"You barely touched it, Amsteria. A few more sips wouldn't hurt now, would it?" Lighting up the cigarette, he showed zero interest in getting back the drink by simply looking at his full hands. One with cigarette, the other with the box and lighter. With soft chuckles at her pout, he commented without much thought, "Can't really handle the ...adult stuff, huh?"

Amsteria retracts the pout and lets her arms fall to the side.
To hell with this youngster.
She turns around and walks to the nearest bin, conveniently at the arch that led to the main hallway Grim was heading for. She drops the near full can of alcoholic juice into it. Dusting her hands and self mockingly, she turns back to Grim who had been grand busy with lighting his cigarette.
"There, all done," she said, turning her back to the bin and crossing her arms once again. Whatever possible cheerful demeanor that had shown on her features were all but gone. She was not going to stand around and let her judgement be clouded 'just for fun'. With a set jaw, she stares at Grim. "Now with that out of the way, care to enlighten me on your night out?"
If all this was a ruse to get her off his back, he must be up to something...perhaps he was playing snitch. At any rate, he better work his gabba to convince her he was not up to no good.

As he slowly inhaling a puff of smoke, the german stayed silent at her unexpected turn of actions. Perhaps he had accidentally tipped the glass too far off. The atmosphere took a turn, but he still kept a faint smile on.
Puffing out, Grim retorted, "Would you believe me if I said I was simply out for a drink?" It wasn't entirely a lie; he hadn't actually planned his time out, and given the course of events if he hadn't met her, that was a very possible destination.
"... that is, until you came around." His tone turned flat and serious, as he began to wonder why he had to explain himself. Mirroring her stance, he crossed his arms as well. There was something about her assertive tone that bugged the defiant child in him. Now, even if he wasn't planning to do anything, he will definitely be.

The atmosphere was tense. A playful greet became quite the problem. She was already exerting authority, and he was, like any other rebellious teenager, standing up to defy her authority. Amsteria maintained her stance, but held her tongue. Adding words would probably fuel the situation, giving Grim an excuse to pick at her words to make them work against her. It would not do to stir up such a ruckus so early in the team formation.
Considering now that there was nothing worth bringing up and a fuming boy ready to possibly argue, she turns around and walks down the hall behind her. The night better be a cool one.
