"You look like those guys and gals that like to pretend that it's the 1800s still..which you're what....a teenager...I mean people your age like to do some weird shit," Saoirse spoke, shrugging as she pick up the sandwich and took a bite. She came here for this sandwich damnit she ain't gonna let it go cold. She made sure to properly chew and swallow before continuing. "Of course zombies aren't real. Just like how it'd be next to impossible for you to be dead."
She'd take another bite or two and swallow, letting the silence blanket over them before scowling. "Damnit why the hell am I telling you this shit? For all I know you could be messing with me for the shits and giggles. Be quite the funny story to tell your friends about that's for sure."

Ah, did his clothing stick out that much... he'd never really paid much attention to fashion and its changes throughout the years. He liked things that were older, naturally. And it never really bothered him to catch up on the times because people didn't usually remember. He was at least more decently dressed than normal while he was outside in the real world, in case. In case he met someone like this policewoman.
"How can I prove it to you?" he asked, unsure how else to talk to her.

“How can you prove that you’re what? Dead? That’s kinda hard to prove when you’re pretty much right infront of me and can pick things up. Unless of course you’re a hallucination. But…” Saoirse paused, the tips of her mouth turning downwards as she took another sip. “I highly doubt that’s the case.”

"Why do people have lights?" He asked her. "Why do people have no lights? Do you know why? Do you see people with lights turn into people with no lights?" Surely if she was familiar with all this, she would have at least come across that as well. It was clear she didn't have a grasp on everything yet.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Saoirse would ask, a scowl forming on her face. "They sure as hell don't look like lights." She'd take another bite and drink the coffee in front of her to help swallow. Once upon a time...they were...once upon a time she had to focus really hard to see the white string like things that wrapped around people...but now they were always there...blurry..but there.

"The lights..." Owen said again with a twinkle in his eye. She knew what he was talking about. "The lines... Dead people don't have lines." He pointed above his head. "I'm dead."

Saoirse took another bite into her sandwich as she listened to Owen, chewing and swallowing as she would glance up at what he was pointing to. There he goes with the lights thing again. They aren't lights...not really. "Maybe you're trying to use lights as like.....tricks of light..in which case sure. But they do not look like lights," She'd grumble, sighing as she stared at her half eaten BLT. Silence would cling to the two for a moment or two before she spoke again. "Ok so let me just entertain your whole...being dead thing," Saoirse started, glancing over at Owen and his threadless form. "Then how are you able to order hot chocolate? You aren't a zombie obviously...and certainly you don't seem like a ghost. So...what exactly are you then?"

"I'm a special kind of dead." He said without much oddity in his voice, as weird as those words were. "Special dead work for her." There seemed to be some infatuation in his eyes just thinking about Death. The kindest person he'd ever met, the loveliest...
"It's special if you can see us." He said, raising his hand slowly, not breaking gaze with the policewoman at all. He wasn't even eyeing the woman and other staff behind the bar, who seemed to be ignoring Owen entirely as she walked past him to serve other customers here. It had been a minute or so and it didn't seem like anyone behind had even noticed him.

"Buddy I don't think that's how death works," Saoirse started, continuing to munch on the sandwich. "Death is death...people just die....there's no such thing as there being a special kind of dead."
Saoirse would glance over at the waitresses as Owen raised his hand, realizing they were very much ignoring him. A pang hit her in the pit of her stomach, slowly growing as she set her sandwich down. "Look, there isn't anything special about me...and there's no way that you are dead and yet still as solid as you are and not a zombie. It doesn't make sense."

"You haven't died before, isn't it?" He tilted his head at her. She wouldn't know. It was hard to comprehend then, and it was still hard to comprehend now.
"Being dead is confusing. Seeing dead is confusing. I was confused once too." Owen put his hand down once she could see his point. Or at least register how much he was being ignored. "If you're not special, why can you see things?" He made little hand gestures as he spoke. "Only special people see things. I was special too."

"Well you don't look like you're dead either...so why should I believe that you've died?" Saoirse asked, taking the coffee cup to her lips and realizing that it was empty, and setting it down with a scowl. "It's not special....it's just something that is probably just....." words would die in her mouth and she'd look away from Owen. "I don't know....I really don't know."

Owen had nothing to prove that he was dead on him right now. Heck, even if he had anything on him, that would be a miracle. His death certificate was long lost anyway, and even that wouldn't be enough to prove anything. He had to convince the woman otherwise.
"If it's special, why do I know?" He leaned in closer to see her face she'd turned away. "But I know. I can tell you. Do you want to know?"

"More like why are you messing with a police detective..." Saoirse muttered, sighing as she brought her gaze back to Owen. "Sure, indulge me...why do you know about this stuff I can see?"

"Because it's from my world." his argument was slowly going in circles, but he wouldn't realise it. "My world is for dead people. I'm dead." He thought about it, feeling what he said was familiar on his tongue. "Have you seen dead people become dead?" he asked, wondering if she'd seen it before.

"And there you go with the whole 'being dead' thing again," Saoirse grumbled, rolling her eyes. Really...why was she still here? She could be doing that paperwork she sorely needed to get done. "Have I seen dead people become dead? That doesn't make sense."
