OWEN:
Lenne looks at you for a long time, allowing you to lead her forward without any resistance. Her expression is unreadable, and she seems to be contemplating telling you something, but is hesitating. Finally she nods slowly, and speaks.
"..yes. He could…" She falls silent again as the two of you trudge along in calm silence, save for the sound of fallen leaves crushing beneath your feet as you walk on ahead. She is hesitating again, but finally exhales softly after a few minutes of brooding silence.
"I…I didn't come to this 'ere place alone…" She says finally, closing her eyes as if divulging a deep secret. "…there is another, like me, here wit' me. We got separated. She...she shouldn't be here. She made a promise to someone important to her that she wouldn't meddle in these issues… But…I…" Lenne falls silent, and you can hear her rubbing at her face with the back of her hand. Her voice shook a little on that last sentence…or were you imagining it…? She clears her throat and continues in a forced, steady manner. "…I…dragged her into this. She isn't supposed ta be 'ere… I…hope she's…not..."
She trails off, and you can hear a loud sniff, before she continues. "I didn't tell ya anythin' earlier cuz I wasn't sure what kinda person you were…but I think…you deserve to know…at least this…" Her hand reaches to her belt loop again as her tone becomes determined and detachedly serious. "When we see him…"
"…I'll get him this time."
MAXWELL, SIENNA & STANLEY :
The pale Apprentice has vanished through the portal he has opened using Maxwell's chrysanthemum, and has gone to get help for your lot from the Apprentice Leaders. It'll probably be some time till he is back, however…little does he know that Fran and Inkie are both out of HQ at the moment, tending to other crazy matters that are happening this season… When the line between the living and a dead diminishes to its maximum transparency, certain complications requiring their immediate attention tend to arise… It will probably be awhile before the pale boy is able to bring the Apprentice leaders back to the West Gate, but he is doing his utmost best to locate them as the rest of you continue to venture through this maze.
As Stanley walks on ahead of Maxwell and Sienna, the latter of whom are making a decision as to whether to split up or stay together, the rhythmic sound of the clink and the swish grows louder…and louder. It is clearly audible now, and it isn't just a distant echo as it used to be. The towering hedge blocks off any strong drafts blowing through the gardens, but you may feel a slight chill down your spine from the impending presence of this clinking-and-swishing intruder…either that or you'd feel a rush of adrenaline and anticipation from finally encountering the source of the boy's panic and hysteria earlier. Depends on what kind of person you are, really.
The path curves gradually as it continues ahead, meaning that it will take some time for you to spot an approaching figure as you proceed forward, and vice versa. Alongside your own breathing, you might be able to hear a breezy, eerie chuckle, along with hoarse, raspy throaty breathing…
Do you continue on ahead on this curving left fork? The clinking and swishing continues to grow louder as we speak...

Sienna stopped as Maxwell did, the fork in the road was causing him some problems it seemed. Her initial thought was no. She couldn't just leave him. But poor Walter was out here as well as Owen and since the boy had mentioned the Bowler being to the left that left one of the others two the right.. Seeing the reason in his suggestion she swallowed her no and nodded. "Yes." She said after a moment, her gold eyes narrowing dangerously as she looked at him pointedly. "But you had better be very, very careful Hatter. If I have to carry you home I will not be happy." She warned. He was already hurt, the big idiot and carefulness aside he'd probably still get injured further. That sound was getting louder. It was so eerie and despite having warmed up since coming inside there was an odd chill to the air. So ominous and she was letting her teammate go into that alone. Well not completely alone. The man form before had slipped past them to head that way already. But was that a good or bad thing? They had no idea who he was and he was already hurt from an altercation with him. A soft whimper escaped her as she hated to do this but the sooner she found Walter and Owen the sooner they could just get out of here.
Knowing that she couldn't promise to not follow him if she watched him go she nodded once more before turning to leave. "Bunny and I will meet you for tea and cake afterwards." With her parting words she ran out to the right, hoping things didn't go as badly as she felt they might.

Another like herself? Ah, at least she had friends. People who could understand. She would be fine. He almost felt jealous, though his feelings didn't show on his face. It was blank and emotionless as always.
"Lenne..." He said after a while of pondering. "She's out there. But we will get out. And then..." Owen stopped speaking for a while, as they walked. Thoughts tried to gather under those dull eyes of his, even the crow called out at him and he seemed to not hear it.
"You don't do this again." He shook his head. "Don't find people like me again." Intentional or not, he really wanted Lenne to leave things be.
I don't want that to happen again, he thought bitterly.

((Walter will be babied like the little baby he is when he gets home me thinks...)) ((I can't tell what I am rolling by hitting preview after writing roll...it won't work, nor does clicking on the dice icon – that one is just a blank square. Do I have to roll first, post and then edit my post?))
His throat was getting rather sore from being so noisy for so long, making his broken-hearted wails more like the moaning of a spirit of the dead as he drew to a close to the previously undiscovered hole in the hedge. Walter was passing the part of the path with some still abandoned candy laying in the road when between a whimper and another chocked “uhu” of his there was a rustle in the bushes.
At first he thought he might have stepped in the mess he had left from before...except there were nothing under his feet. There was a choked sniffle from the boy as he stopped to identify where this unexplainable noise had come from with a high pitched little whistle on the x to his “Maxwell...?”

(( ah, you're doing it right, Fuego! it will appear as a blank square until you post it, so that even the poster doesn't know what they're rolling till after your post gets posted! ^-^ ))
(( and, no, you do not need to edit your post after rolling. the dice roll will only affect the actions that follow AFTER Walter's choice. ^-^ namely, the roll will affect whether Walter will run into a certain NPC or not after your post! ^-^ just letting ya know haha ))

An endearing smile would replace the taut and stiff expression Maxwell had been wearing as Sienna spoke her peace. Her words were clear and unhindered by their common stutter. It was enough to make him giggle apart from his twisted laughter. "There's the Sisi I know. My good little Alice... So cute when she's serious....!" His eyes followed Stanely as the man took to the left path. Maxwell's smiled deepened again and he tipped his head at Sienna. "Remember--I take my tea with Eight sugars. No less, but maybe more."
Twirling his fingers at her, Maxwell turned and followed after Stanley, a little spring in his stride as he took long steps to catch up to masked mans side. His smile tightening again as he tucked his hands against his back. He wouldn't say a word to the Man-in-the-mask, but hummed a delighted little tune as he joined them. Maxwell trusted Sienna to find their beloved White Bunny rabbit and take good care after him. In the mean time, He would take care of Party Pooping Bowlers with Stanley.

The two continued down the path after Sienna had departed. Silence hung between him and his Hatter companion, broken only by the metronome-like sound of...something being swung. Was it a scythe? A cane? Stanley found it difficult to tell. Regardless, said weapon had killed someone, and he had a shred of the proof to show for it, if it really did belong to Bowler Hat's victim.
The chuckle, the raspy breathing made Stanley shudder slightly as he inhaled sharply. What little pre-death memory he had only reminded him of how much in pain he was, and how hoarsely he had attempted to call out for help that never came before he died. He thumbed the top of his cane, eyeing the hedges on either sides of them. Tall, towering bushes... brambles that were thick enough to catch anything that flew into it.
Without enough force, he wouldn't be able to stop his shovel from getting stuck in the hedges if he were to swing it in a wde arc. Stabbing someone through the hedges would be absolutely no problem, of course. It was just a matter of stabbing the right person.
"How many have you caught, Mr.Bowler Hat?" he called out, quite sure that the Hatter would be fast enough to evade any incoming attacks. He didn't quite enjoy babysitting while fighting, "I suppose I can commend you for making Halloween actually scary for some people..."

OWEN : Lenne blinks down at you in surprise before a small smile spreads across her features. "Yea...she's really strong...'n fast. But...I’ll never forgive myself if anythin’ happens to ‘er…” The path gets gradually brighter as you walk on forward. The shrouded shadows from before no longer loom over the two of you, allowing you to see your way much clearer. This path seems somewhat overgrown, and relatively unventured on. It leads straight on ahead for a distance. She lets out a soft laugh at your request. "See, Owen. The thing is, this is the first 'ere time that I've actually gone proactively lookin' for matters regarding your kind," " They usually come lookin' for me." WALTER : "aaaAAAAAA!!" It appears as if the hedge is speaking to you as the rustling becomes a shaking and something tumbles right through the hole in the hedge! With a scream. A high-pitched, girlish scream. All you can see is a blur of pink as the screaming thing crashes through the hedge. When the pink tumbling blur finally rolls to a stop, you see that it's a...person. A little girl, to be precise. She is dressed in a cute, frilly, baby-pink and white Lolita dress and covered with twigs and leaves from the hedge she has just tumbled through. ...figures. She appears to be around your age, a mere child as well. She steadily lets out a stream of "ow ow ow ow ow" as she continues to sit on the floor, blocking your path ahead. If you observe carefully, you will find that she is threadless. Just like you. SIENNA : If you choose to go along the right fork after parting ways with Maxwell, you will find your path curves to the right as well. Following along it will lead you closer to the wails from earlier, and you also hear a high-pitched, girlish scream from this direction. So many strange sounds in one night. Do you proceed forward with gusto or do you hesitate a little...? STANLEY & MAXWELL : Just after Stanley speaks, the clinking comes to an abrupt stop, as a bone-chilling sound fills the air and echoes through the gardens. It sounds like a scream, but yet contains the "HEEEHEEE" and "AAAAAAHAHAHAHA" of laughter. Urgh. Creepy. An equally strange voice soon drifts around the corner. "Countlessssss..." His voice hisses through the still night air. “So many run from me… so many… what a shame... But youuuu..." The clinking and swishing resumes as rhythmically as before as the shrill laughter-scream rings through the air again. And finally, as you walk on ahead, you see him. Rounding the bend. You see his weapon first, heavy and powerful, swishing through the still night air, before you see... him. Grinning like the bloodthirsty maniac that he is. You see stark white teeth glowing in the shadows, followed by a bloodstained trench coat, and rounded off with dirty, worn steel-capped boots. And of course, a navy blue bowler hat is atop his tall frame. He moves at his own leisurely place, making sure to clink the back of one of his boots against the front of the other as he crunches forward in a steady pace. So that's where the clinking is coming from... "....you're not runningggggg. Niceeeeeee." He seems thrilled. His (free) left hand is pressed against the side of his face, and he seems to be holding something in it...something bright blue...tinged with gold. And crimson.

The laughter made Stanley roll his eyes. Another Hunter who 'took their jobs seriously'. He's had his fair share of running into them, and while some of them were actually quite pleasant, a great majority of them were quite clearly more unhinged than he was.
...Was that what he would end up being, though? Time eroded on a lot of things, after all. Keeping himself well-dressed and clinging onto manners that felt proper to him were the only things keeping him from despairing at his current state.
At long last, they came face-to-face with Mr.Bowler Hat. Stanley stopped at the sight of the heavy scythe the man hauled over his shoulder. The Hunter in front of them could easily be 6'3", his boots making him seem taller. The resemblance in the man's frame and another made Stanley uncomfortable. His temper began to flare, even.
Blood splattered his clothes. Well-worn, weatherbeaten, but still intact and Stanley found him rather impeccably-dressed, really.
If not for the colored threads in his hand. No, they weren't threads. Dyed human hair that looked familiar to him.
Stanley could swear his breathing stopped when his gaze fell upon the lock of hair in the man's hand. All thoughts of asking the Hunter why he was here, if he was here on direct orders from their leader or even the simple courtesy of asking the man's name flew out the window.
His mind drew a blank, filled only with a quickly burning rage that surged through his veins, "What have you done to her." he whispered, his voice shaking.
Gritting his teeth, Stanley simply decided the man needed to die. There was no way he was going to let him live. Suddenly darting forwards with cane in hand, the slighter Hunter moved in close, determined to stab the underside of the man's chin and possibly right through his skull and bellowing like he'd gone mad,
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER, SWINE!?!?!?!?"

Maxwell slowed, but did not stop when the screeching laughter broke the stillness in the air. What a delightful sound! This fellow seemed quite merry. It caused the Rainbow Hatter to giggle with excitement as the Bowler hat man stepped out from around the corner. And--Goodness, that smile! He seemed absolutely friendly! What a spirited looking fellow!
Clearly, Stanley thought otherwise....
Maxwell came to a halt as the Man-in-the-Mask besides him madly dashed ahead. Oh....how curious. His grinned widened as he chewed his gum, watching the dramatics unfold. "My, My..... That isn't very nice, Mister Mask," he'd chide, staying back from the confrontation. Wondering, wondering, wondering, what on earth made him...snap!

Sienna didn't hesitate, she simply continued on at her quick but calculated pace. The sound was closer and another cry had taken it's place. A girl now? All the more reason to hurry up and get out of here. The pathway curved and the hedges around her loomed ominously as she moved forward. She didn't know what she was going to find as she pressed on. But hopefully it would be Bunny and a friend and nothing else.

Hopefully Lenne's friend could hold out for the time being. It would be hard to find her in this maze at any rate. Wherever could anyone be? He'd already lost the others.
Soon enough it was apparent they no longer needed a lantern, the path bright enough to see clearly. It slowly devolved into somethig unkempt and forgotten. A far corner of the garden no one visited, perhaps.
"We visit you?" He pondered. Owen hadn't heard much about people wanting to see the living so badly. 'See' probably was the wrong word for it in this case, however. "Why do they visit you? Do they want to hurt you?" Humans had no business in the dead, unless they were a hunter, or a fateless.

Walter simply stared at the flurry of pink and white that had come tumbling out of the bushes and now sat whining in the path. He felt frightfully offended that the rustling had gotten his hopes up and then turned out it was not Maxwell at all, forgetting to check for the thread.
“You are not my Hatter.” He murmured as he walked up to her with the intent of getting along as quickly as possible. Finding out what had happened to his dear friend was more important than spending too much time here with the girl. Tumbling through bushes didn't hurt as much as she let on either.
“You look like a very lost wedding cake.” He remarked about her frilly dress.

STANLEY & MAXWELL :
That evil cackle rings through the night air even louder than before at Stanley’s outburst as the Man in the Bowler Hat is compelled to take a quick step back and swing his powerful weapon up, letting the blade swing upwards just in time to block Stanley’s shovel from being driven through his chin. A terrible clanging of metal on metal resounds like an eerie ringing as the Man cackles on, the lock of blue-gold hair still firmly gripped in his large hand as it grips his scythe. His horrible, toothy smile seems to arch higher at the corners of his mouth as he hisses at Stanley in a crackling voice that sounds barely human. “Yo̷u k͘nǫwwwww͢w the͠ blu̶eb͝ir͡dd͝ddd̴!!! Niceeeeee̸ee̵e͢e̢e͡ee,” He appears delighted at that fact, as well as in the fact that this particular next target of his seemed to be one who could put up quite the fight. What a treat!
“T̶h̢èy ̨c̛an s̷ée̕ ús̨ssss̵s. T̵h͏e̵y̴’͟re̵ n̵o͝t̕ ̴s̵up̨pos҉e͞d to̕ see͟ ͡u̢s̸ss̷s͡s͘s.́…” His head slowly tilts to the right to study Stanley, and Stanley would be able to see the glint of bloodlust shining through his messy bangs—black, hollow irises filled with an insane sort of bloodlust peering back at you through them. As he studies Stanley for a bit, he notices a second figure behind him as the two have their weapons locked against each other. “Helloòòǫoóo̡oo͡o͞oo̧oo~~” He greets Maxwell, grinning at the smaller man like the maniac that he is, as if to tell him, “You’re next~” Yikes.
SIENNA :
You are now only 2 hedges away from Walter, even though you don’t quite know this yet, as the hedges are far too towering for your petite frame to see over. The path in front of you seems to curve ahead forever with no alternative pathways leading out from it. This is ridiculous. You are in a hurry to get to the other side of the hedge where the Bunny is, so that you can quickly regroup with the Hatter and head somewhere safe…r than this. The hedges are as tall as ever and loom over you like snickering giants, though those thick brambles seem to be thinning out up ahead to the point that you can actually see through them to the other side. Oh.
Perhaps…there might be a quicker solution to this…
[ Sienna to do a d20 + WIS stat roll to see if she manages to think of cutting through the thinning hedges to save time. A roll of 12 and above indicates SUCCESS! A roll of 15 and above will result in a bonus event that will take place during the next turn. ]
OWEN :
Lenne laughs grimly, tussling her dark hair as you as she sighs defeatedly. “Ya have no idea the kind of requests some o’ the dead have these days, once they find out we can see, ’n remember ‘em,” She looks visibly unhappy as she says this, as if this “sight” is a gift she’d much rather…not have. Although Apprentices are generally discouraged from meddling too much in human affairs or disrupting human lives for their own personal affairs, there is little to stop the Fallen, or the Hunters, from doing so. And, of course, there are the Fateless. Ever since the Hunter faction has been properly organised, the presence of Fateless has been increasingly more prevalent than before… “Unfinished business, grievances, rubbish like that. I’m kinda lucky my ‘sight’ isn’t one of the best, so at times it’s easier ta jus’…pretend I can’t see nothin’…”
“Some embrace it, though. Ya know that friend I told ya ‘bout’? She’s friends with so many o’ ‘em. She loves this kinda shit—she loves bein’ aroun’ ‘em, learnin’ ‘bout their world, learnin’ ‘bout ’em… As for me…” She looks as if she’s had to carry a burden around for a long while… “…I have enough matters ta tend to withou’ havin’ to tend to those of the dead.”
Her voice sounds weary as she walks along the straight path with you. “I promise ya, Owen. This be the absolutely last time I get myself involved in matters o’ your kind. Zel can continue doin’ whatever she likes with that silver-haired pretty boy and his silver-haired lady friend, or that emo-fringe forever-masked-or-half-masked dude, but…I’m done. I’m…done…”
Just then, a loud wail resounds from the path in front of you both, though the source of the wail is nowhere to be seen. (Little do you know that you are just a hedge or two away from Walter and the walking wedding cake.) As if by instinctive reaction, Lenne pulls out a loaded pistol from her belt loop, aiming it at the path before you both. You now know what she has been gripping at for reassurance all this while…
“What in the blazes is that sound?!”
WALTER :
To your shock and dismay, the little girl shrieks like a banshee and rolls over to where you are, gripping tightly onto your left calf and ankle and absolutely refusing to let go. For such a small, petite thing, she has quite the vice grip. Talk about clingy.
“You look like a BEACON OF HOPEEEEE!!!” she wails as she holds onto your leg, shaking her head and looking up at you with a tear-stricken face. Her eyes are a stunning blue-grey, and you can see tears trickling out the corners of them as she clings to you for dear life. She appears to be quite lost, but looks extremely relieved to have run into you.
“I AM very losttttt. UWAAAHHHHHHHHH~~~!!!!” She bellows up at you, pleading. This sound is definitely going to travel for several hedges around you…urgh…
