HAUNTED GARDENS: WEST GATE
You walk into the gardens on the outskirts of New York, through the East gate. You can remember what it looks like during the day, open and bright with all the colors of autumn blanketing the greenery in its signature foliage. But the moonlight seems to drain all its life, turning bright golds to murky browns, vivid pinks to dark blood, the rich ground to deep pools of shadows. This is a large garden, it would probably take you all night to get across.
In front of the gate is small open building that acts as the welcoming center. There is an archway here, decorated by pumpkins, for Halloween you suppose. There is something quaint and cozy about this little center, which is its intended effect. Beyond you can spy deciduous trees peeking out in greeting and the start of a hedge maze. Looks to be make for children, no doubt, you can tell by the bright, in your face, Halloween decorations. Still the hedge is rather high, you can’t see much beyond it.

Log of Events
• Sienna and Owen end up following Stanley into the maze, with Maxwell slightly further behind.
• Walter ends up going down a different path from the other four, and is venturing through the maze alone.
• Maxwell bounds ahead of Stanley along the left forked rose-path, running into another Apprentice in the maze, while Stanley trails behind to find something strange in the rose bushes. It turns out to be a bloodied bandage.
• Walter comes to an old abandoned fountain after veering off the straight path. He finds three slightly hidden passages behind the fountain, upon closer observation. He chooses to take the left path.
• Owen separates from Maxwell and Stanley, choosing to veer down a route where a strange glow awaits him. It turns out to be a woman who is trying (and failing) to extinguish a fire caused by her tipped over lantern.
• Maxwell nearly crashes into a pale, petite Apprentice boy who looks absolutely terrified. To avoid him, the Rainbow Hatter ends up crashing into the thorny rose hedges. Ouch!
• The boy brings news to the trio about a mysterious figure in the maze who appears to be Hunting down anyone unlucky enough to cross his path.
• As Stanley tries to help Maxwell out of the thorns by offering his cane as a support, he immediately regrets his decision as the Hatter decides to claim the cane for himself... After a tough struggle, Stanley finally manages to wrestle the cane from Maxwell, sending Maxwell....back into the bushes.
• The path Walter has chosen leads him to a dead end...because it is blocked by a...flower bush. Walter is unable to find a way around it, and hears Maxwell's insane laughter, beginning to tear up in regret at the fact that he might have indirectly caused his best friend to be in danger.
• The woman with Owen reveals her name to be Lenne, and that she is searching for the Man in the Bowler Hat, who seems to be Hunting down Spiritually Aware Humans (and any Apprentices who get in his way). He has Hunted someone important to Lenne, and Lenne is here searching for him for answers and possibly...revenge.
• Sienna helps Maxwell up, whilst Stanley and the pale boy help retrieve his sweets. The Man in the Bowler Hat draws near, and the pale Apprentice tries to convince everyone to flee the area, but in vain. Stanley ventures ahead with Maxwell leaving clear instructions to Sienna to find Walter so that they can all escape together.
• A girl clad in a pink and white multi-layered lolita dress tumbles through the hedge that Walter is next to, clinging to him and blocking his path. She claims to be lost but also has been running...from something...
• Sienna breaks off from Maxwell and Stanley's group to go after Walter.
• Lenne reveals to Owen that she did not come here alone, and that her friend, another Spiritually Aware Human, Zel, is in the maze with her, possibly hurt, possibly...worse. She is also revealed to be carrying a loaded pistol, although she has hinted that she has hesitated in using it before this...
• Stanley encounters the Man in the Bowler Hat and flies into a rage when he realises that the murderous man...is holding a lock of hair belonging to someone very important to him... A fight commences, with Maxwell making commentary and observing from the sidelines for an opening to...help?
• The little girl with Walter admits to hearing a mad laughter that Walter is sure belongs to his best friend. He beseeches her to bring him to where she heard it.
• Sienna cleverly finds a short-cut through the hedge instead of having to go around it, and takes her chances with it! After all, this short-cut will lead her closer to the familiar wailing sounds that she heard earlier...
• The Man in the Bowler Hat continues to taunt Stanley as the fierce battle rages on, and Maxwell fails to sneak up behind him for a potential sneak attack later... Perhaps the Mad Hatter will get his chance in time...
