Sienna took her time maneuvering through the hedge of thorns and roses. But as she got closer to the others the fighting was hard to miss and she darted out the rest of the way. What was going on out here? She came out from around the corner just in time to catch Maxwell being tossed into the shrubbery. Maxwell and the man from earlier were fighting and there was someone else in their midst. What was going on?! She was confused, glancing from one to the other from her position. What had happened from the time she had seen them till now. Unable to really do much else she scurried over to pull her eccentric teammate out of the bushes while keeping an ear and an eye on the other twos conversation.

Walking for a bit and finding that the road ahead was clean and free of any things to get in his way Walter wondered if he should stop up and find out why. Surely it should have been leaves on the ground like all the other paths....it is very curious indeed. Very curious...like wonderland and...HATTER!
The reminder of being in a race had him breaking into a little run again. Must win challenge. The eerie silence was only broken by his breath and soft tap-tap-tap of his shoes hitting the ground all the way to the end of the road. Here he stopped up, catching his breath.
At the clear split in the road he looked first to the right, then the left. Both paths were clearly split, but he couldn't tell anything about them from where he stood. No matter. He must be past the first path he was on by now, surely they wouldn't have made a straight up road to the other side all lit up nicely.
And with that logic he went left.

Maxwell's TUG-O-WAR : d20 rolled = 16 + Strength of ZERO = YOU WIN THIS TIME, "MAN-IN-THE-MASK" ----------
Of course Maxwell wasn't going to win at their little game of Yank-the-Cane. The Mad Rainbow Hatter was as strong as he was small. Punted away, He rolled backwards, heels over head, and made a smooth attempt to simply right himself on his feet again! Which he might have accomplished with success, if there had been a little more space in the path. The bushes met his back before he even found the ground beneath his heel and Maxwell was tangled again......
A giggle pressed hard against the back of his teeth as Maxwell grinned just a little bit forcibly, a hundred needles or more shoved through his many layers and into his skin all over again. Hanging in the brambles of thorns and flowers, a twisted laugh broke through his teeth to stifle the stabbing ache of everywhere. "EheHEHAhaaHAHeohohoHOHUOhohohhEheHEheheHA--!!"
Untangling himself this time would be.....Fun! As he was certain the Man-in-the-Mask wouldn't be quite so willing to help him this time. His insistent giggling would do him no help either, each bubbly laugh choked behind his grin and shaking him against the brambles. Though to his surprise, a flurry of black and blue was quick to his aide.
"Alice! Ha! Hahaoho! Sweet Alice, you're LATE, my dear! We're all so UTTERLY late~" He'd never state how happy he was for her hand, feigning a right-as-rain composure as she helped him to his feet. Maxwell, though, used no gentleness in ripping himself free, like a three day old band-aid! Perhaps he should have, though. He heard the rip of of his coat and felt the tear of tender white skin, heat blossoming where unseen cuts bleed sadly. Maxwell no more than shook with reserved laughter, squinting away smarting tears.
"I seem to have lost my hat! Fetch it for me, wont you, Alice?" He'd waggle his fingers at the Hat and it's candy spilled across the ground a few feet away, hoping the little mess would distract his team mate while he picked thorns from his sides and smeared blood from his cheeks.

Maxwell truly sounded like a horror show and quite frankly, Stanley was feeling a little tired to even consider reacting to the pale man's laughter. Repeatedly, Stanley reminded himself that Maxwell was asking for it with how difficult he was being.
He COULD have just given the cane away. His threadcutter was just the spade, even if it came with the cane to form a shovel. ...There was something oddly nostalgic about the cane, though. He couldn't place a finger on why. That could wait till later.
Absentmindedly patting the boy on the head, Stanley crouched down to pick up the candy that was closest to him, handing them over to Sienna if she was picking them up as well. The Hunter scrunched up his nose at the sight of crimson against Maxwell's pale skin. To think he had the urge to lobotomize this person just a while ago...
Slipping a hand into his pocket, Stanley pulled out a few bandaids he'd carried with him, also handing them to Sienna to help patch Maxwell up. He didn't want to risk holding his hand out to the Hatter, he might want Stanley's arm next for all he knew.
Something fell out of his pocket when he dug the bandaids out, and Stanley quickly picked it up. He completely forgot about the bloodied bandage he found earlier on and cleared his throat, holding it up so they could all see it,
"Does this belong to any of you?"

OWEN :
"Yea…" The lady with the extinguished lantern nods grimly at you, pursing her lips discontentedly. "They're a mighty blur until I focus right, but I can see 'em, plain and fine…" She raises her brows at your offer, looking a little sheepish. "Uh…well…the way you put that…" She scratches her head, looking stumped. "…that may be true…but you're just…a child. I mean, for all I know ya might be a whole century older than me, but I still feel kinda bad for lettin' a child go ahead o' me,"
Exhaling sharply, she determinedly grabs hold of your sleeve and grins down at you. "We go together. Like rumarumaruma~~~" She sings, laughing lightly. "To be honest, even though ya dead and stuff, I'm kinda glad for company in this. I dunno about what you've heard, but, these gardens aren't too safe for walking alone in the dark…"
She takes a step into the darkness. "So, what's ya name, kid? Ya can call me Lenne,"
MAXWELL, STANLEY & SIENNA :
[ Pale Shota rolls 15 + 4 DEX = 19 ]
The pale Apprentice narrowly misses the RAINBOW KICK as he falls to the ground just in time to avoid it. He stares up in wide-eyed horror as the taller man attempts to wrestle his precious cane out of the rainbow biscuit's grasp. "St-stOPPP!!" Since neither of you are paid any heed to his protests during the Test of Strength, he resorted to jumping up and down and flailing his arms like a sad-looking rag doll. All this while, he kept looking over his shoulder, as if checking to see if anyone is behind him, before turning back to the both of you and resuming his helpless flailing.
When the struggle finally ceases, the pale Apprentice looks visibly relieved, though the laughter from Maxwell makes him jump and yelp again in surprise. He scampers to the ground, trying to hurry in helping retrieve the fallen candy and throwing them swiftly into the Hatter's Hat. The quicker they packed up, the quicker they could move on…
Stanley's question and him holding the bloodied bandage up made the pale Apprentice freeze in his tracks, hands filled with Maxwell's candy. If he could get any paler, that was exactly what he did, as his jaw fell open.
"….h-he….he g-got someone…" The pale Apprentice's hands are shaking once more. He looks from Stanley, to Sienna, to the energetic Maxwell, as he empties the candy into Maxwell's hat. Swallowing heavily, he stammers,
"…h-he's c-coming…the Man…in the b-b-bowler h-hat…" The boy begins picking the candy up at rapid speed. "…w-we need to g-get back…the rumours…are…a lie….i-it's all…a tr-trap…" His grey eyes are widened with fear, but he forces himself to keep talking. "…chrys…chry…chrysanthemum…any of y-you?"
WALTER :
As Walter proceeds along the path, the air is completely still and silent, save for the soft pitter patter from his shoes on the grass-covered ground. The left path he had chosen brings him slightly closer to the commotion caused by Maxwell and Stanley, though several thick hedges still separate the two groups. Walter would be able to hear the mad laughter of Maxwell piercing through the still night air.
The path he has chosen leads straight for a distance, without any clear left or right turns, but if he is observant enough, he will notice a small hole in the left hedge of the path…small enough for a person of his size to crawl through…

Oh, so she wasn't so good at seeing them. Well, probably better for her that she knew what she did. She wouldn't go mad this way...
"I am older..." He said anyway as the woman overtook him. He flinched little when she grabbed his arm, humming a song he recalled from a while back. He wasn't sure where it was from, but he remembered he didn't mind the song. He liked it, he thought.
"Not safe? Even if I'm dead?" He asked her. "Or because I'm dead?" He seemed to tense up a little at the thought. It was probably safer being alive out here but who knew. There were lots of things said about this place, much of which he couldn't recall.
"I am Owen." He said after she asked, calling him back from his momentary panic. "You can call me Owen too."

OWEN :
"Heh…you speak funny, Owen," Lenne teased, quickly adding, "…no offence." Seeing how stoic the boy was, she guessed that he probably wasn't too affected by trivial remarks such as these. Older, …eh? Perhaps his vintage time period where he lived was where he got his odd speech pattern from? …interesting…
"Nahh…" She shook her head, waving him off with a nonchalant wave of her hand. "I think in this aspect, you and I are both….unequally unsafe. Or safe. However ya wanna perceive it," She squints through the darkness, dragging the now-useless lantern along the hedge since the lack of light didn't allow her to see exactly where she was going. She takes slow, steady steps, as if fearing that she was going to tread somewhere unsafe.
"…what're ya doing here anyway, Owen? Heard some stories about this place? Psshhhh..."

'The man in the bowler hat', he said. Stanley reached up to touch his head, feeling the leather of his aviator hat through his gloves. Oh good, the boy didn't mean him.
Again making a quiet shushing sound, Stanley tucked the bloody bandage into his pocket and gripped the boy's shoulders, shaking him slightly, "Calm down, panicking isn't going to help."
'Not when you have another Hunter to worry about,' he almost added, but kept quiet, making sure the boy was calmer at least, "Look, you're not alone, these people here can lead you out." He motioned to the two Apprentices who were with him.
If only Maxwell and Sienna weren't here, he could just gut the boy for all his floundering and go on his merry way...

Unaware of what threat there might be at the moment Sienna had planned to slowly disentangle the silly Hatter as gently as she could. Planned being the key word there. Instead of letting her help him he forcibly wrenched his way free, tearing his obnoxiously colored outfit along with his skin she was sure. And that laugh. It had not sounded like his usual ones at all. It sounded horrifying. She grimaced and choked down a whimper as he insisted she get his hat when he was obviously in pain. She turned to look where he was pointing, spotting the hat along with the abhorrent amount of candy he'd stuffed in it scattered on the ground.
She nodded and left him to gather the candy, happy to have some help from the other two. The hat in hand she gathered some candy as well but most of it had been picked up already by the other two who deposited their shares into it. The bandaids were happily accepted and while she noticed the bloody cloth fall to the ground her teammates state of being was currently at the to of her to do list.
Returning to Maxwell she handed him his hat and didn't give him much of an option to escape or move away as she began hunting down his worse wounds to bandage them. Bullheaded, reckless, insane idiot. She didn't want to know how he'd gotten into this mess and didn't ask. She was cross though and upset as she turned tot he other one in their midst. "A bowler hate? What's going on? Should we just head back out?" She had a flower yes but at this point she kept that to herself. She didn't know these two.

"Out? Hehahahehee--No! No, no. We must go ON." Maxwell did not like to be fussed over, but he had become quite used to Sienna's doting natures. Though while she sought to tack the dull and drab band aids on his boo-boo's, Maxwell would attempt to insist that his poor coat was in greater need than his REAL injuries. The pain would pass, in time, and he would not laugh so incessantly as he did now. He did, though, thank her for his hat and it's candied content, thumbing through the pile with a shaky giggle, as if counting everything there.
"We must go forwards, friends! To the--ehehe--EPICENTER of Wonderland! Isn't that so, Alice? It's the only way. Hehehe-- We have to beat the Bunny!" Picking a piece of Double-Bubble-Bubble-Gum from the assorted mess in his hat, gum that was naught but pure sugary puddy whence chewed, Maxwell unwrapped and popped the pink candy in his left cheek. The sweetness was comforting and would deliver a useful sugar high for later. He'd hunt for a second and third piece to stuff into his mouth before returning the hat carefully to his head. The wrappers were carelessly discarded to the garden floor, and he took a few careful strides away from the group, intent to move on and continue his 'race'. "Come! On wards! OFF with the Bowler Mans, ahaha....hat!", He cried out, unable to resist another mad and twisted cackle.

Stanley pulled away from the boy, stood up and tugged on his gloves, feeling them come loose slightly, "From the sounds of things... there's a Hunter in the maze." he would have feigned concern, but that requured a bit more energy out of him, which he preferred to not spend immediately.
"Miss... Alice, was it?" he was very sure that wasn't her name, but he had nothing else to go on besides that, "If you have a chrysanthemum, do lead the boy back to HQ... I... have to keep going," he gently pushed the boy towards Sienna and let out a tired sigh when Maxwell sprang up to his feet and seemed very keen on hunting down Mr.Bowler Hat.
Can't a man have his prey all to himself...?
Turning to look at Sienna with an exasperated look on his face, Stanley brought his cane up and 'scratched' his forehead with the ornament at the tip, "It.. WOULD be a tall order to ask you to evacuate the Hatter there, right...?"

"You're not funny to think that." He said without much reaction. "People think that about me all the time." Once upon a time he would've cared, but not anymore. Being dead did that to you.
"What is unsafe here?" Owen asked, a little suspicious. A monster? A hunter? His logic told him the latter. What if she was a hunter? The thoughts rolled about in his head as he failed to contemplate options, brain skipping between thoughts in a flurry.
"People talked about coming here." He looked at her, slowed down his pace. "They said there are things you can see here." Once he finished speaking his speed came back and he walked alongside Lenne, glancing at her. The crow did the same with a caw to the woman's face.

STANLEY, SIENNA & MAXWELL :
"Y-you're ri-right…" The pale Apprentice shakes his head as he is shaken by Stanley, his breathing steadying as he fights to calm himself from panic. He nods so hard at Sienna it looks as if he's a bobble-head doll, the kind that you see lined up like soldiers on a trucker's dashboard. "We sh-should head out. All of us. H-he took my flowers…I h-have none left…"
His grey eyes are filled with worry as he looks up at Stanley. "You c-can't! You can't, Mister! H-he's crazy. He'll get anyone…absolutely ANYONE…wh-who wanders in his path…h-he's crazy…" The boy frowns, his face full of concern at that the thought that Stanley wanted to keep going. "I only managed to escape…because…the only thing I'm good at…is running away…" The boy's lip quivers at he looks up pleadingly at Stanley, then at Sienna.
OWEN:
Lenne's light, fleeting, laughter rings through the still night air before she clears her throat to collect herself. "Lighten up, lil' man! I was jus' teasin'~" You can hear the sound of hedge branches scraping against her lantern as she trails it along the hedge.
"Huh. Guess we both heard similar things, then…" You probably can't quite make out her expression too clearly in the shadows, but if a trickle of moonlight is caught by her face, you'd see that it looks slightly surprised. "Tell me…what exactly did you come here to see, lil' Owen? I mean…"
“The fact that you're here shows there might actually be some truth in this fairy tale after all.”

"I know..." He said melodiously, sort of to Lenne and sort of to himself too. His blank face matched little with the playful tone in his voice. The slightest sound of the lantern behind them made his face twitch to concern every time, though.
"I came here to see..." See what, exactly? He'd overheard talk about seeing ascended, long gone friends and people... Though at the thought of that, he sighed. There weren't many people at the top of his head he could think of. He didn't know her face, he was a mystery, who knows what happened to her, they were faces he never wanted to see again...
Owen had unknowingly stopped in his tracks, thinking things over. "I'm not sure what I came here to see. Maybe see a reminder..."
Yes, they'd all go beyond someday, and he will have a new body, and maybe a new mind to go with it too. "Maybe I want to see something..." He glanced at Lenne. "Maybe I will see someone."

Somehow Sienna had known he'd insist on contuining despite the danger this situation presented. She coudln't willingly allow him to go and leave herself though. She'd find no solace in waiting around for him to come back either. And with the way he was acting along with being injured she couldn't even begin to think of leaving just to save her own hide.
But it wouldn't just be her hide the other unknown face was pleading and begging them to turn back. Every fiber of her being agreed with this statement. But she hated the idea of leaving the rest of them behind. Owen was in here somewhere too, and Walter. Of course she wouldn't be much use in a fight either...
"Maxwell, won't you reconsider this idea of yours?" She asked looking hopeful but doubting he'd change his mind all at once. A placating hand was placed on the mystery boys shoulder. "Don't w-worry, one way or a-another we'll get y-you out of here." She stated as calmly as she could for his sake. He seemed really frazzled.
