Stanley pulled his mask off, positive that nobody was in the area when he did so. Bringing the ribbon up to his nose, the metallic scent was unmistakable. The mask was slipped back into place as Stanley pocketed the gauze bandages, simply because littering wasn’t polite in the least and he really didn’t want to touch it any longer than he already was, what was he going to do if his gloves got dirty now? He didn’t have a spare pair, after all!
How fresh the blood was bothered him somewhat, and he hummed as he squinted at the bushes, prodding at it with his cane. Nothing out of the ordinary… Perhaps someone was dying out here? Focusing his sight on his surroundings, he failed to spot any threads, whether red or white though.
Stanley turned his cane around so he was holding the tip and snapped the spade on it, effectively turning it into his shovel and shouldered it for a moment. These thorns were really getting in the way… Perhaps it was force of habit, wanting to help someone who was potentially in danger, or maybe it was just the sudden adrenaline rush from the scent of blood… But without further hesitation, Stanley cut away at the stray briars to forge a path for himself.
He hummed still, an innocent tune despite what he was doing with such vicious swings. When he finally passed the briars, off the spade went, and back into his coat it did. With one hand, Stanley brushed away leaves and stray thorns off of his person and continued on his way down the maze. Was there someone here? They’d best watch themselves.

The little fountain had Walter running in a little circle around it, it was nice to look at but the lack of water made it a bit less interesting for him. It was a bit disappointing to him that he would be at a dead end so soon in the maze, but it had been an almost hidden away entrance to begin with so it wasn't very surprising to find a little pocket of garden accessories and nothing else. He could always climb the fountain to get a better view....
“Not going to win a run against Maxwell like that.” Also it was the fact he felt compelled to go on forward even though he could not see any reason to do so when it was no evident other path to follow, although.... “I haven't actually seen the dead end properly...it might have an exit like the entrance.”
Walter ventured past the fountain to make sure he really was at a dead end, and found himself with another set of paths to choose from. Right was out of the question, if he took too many of the same way he'd most likely end up running in a circle, left might just bring him back to the path he had first come from.
Walter nodded to himself and set down the middle path.

(( Honor system, gooooo~ Maxwell rolls Dex check! 15 + 6 = 21! He dodges! Success! ))
Dodging about the Rose hedges was an easy task for Maxwell. It was like dancing to the Lindy hop! He jumped and skipped and darted under and around offending branches, evading the pull of thorns that snatched at his clothes and caressed his face. A few scratches were nothing. The stage was set! He was in the zone and on his way--Maxwell had realized by now that Walter probably hadn't come this way, but he'd beat that sneaky little bunny and teach him a lesson of goodness yet! Though he did wonder where his little Bunny had gone. How far had the boy gotten? He couldn't be too far ahead. "MAAAAARCOOOOO!" He'd screach as loud of he could. expectant he'd get a reply. Unfaltering, Maxwell bound headlong around the corner ahead of him, calling again for Bunny and--Whoop! That was a person! He grabbed his hat and went for whirl, fumbling on a hairline around the pale stranger and--right into the thorny hedge! He'd stare widely, giggling in surprise. "WELL, HELLO, MARCO! I'M IN A TERRBBLE HURRY! HAVE YOU SEEN MY BUNNY!?"

Sienna glanced to Owen who had stumbled in behind them. She didn't get the chance to answer the strange mans' question because he was gone too soon, leaving her with Owen and the crow. She smiled at the pair and nodded. She was fine, for now anyway. Maxwell darted past earning a huff from her but he seemed to be on a mission which was good. He was less reckless that way. Everyone had seemed to have sped right past her though and she now stood more or less alone at the fork in the path. The dark one looked less riddled with thorns, but the lit one had roses. And so after a moment or two she opted for the rosey road instead and tried to weave in and out of the plants to avoid scratching herself too much or ruining her outfit she'd grown to like. It was much more like she was used to wearing after all.

OWEN:
"Yes, your kind," The woman frowned a little at you, flipping her dark hair behind her. "I know…what you are. You and your lot without 'em threads…" The loud caw from your crow startles her a little, and she swears softly under her breath. She takes a step from you, as if fearing that your little pet is going to attack her anytime soon, though she looks slightly relieved to see that you appear to have some degree of control over it…
"So, as I asked," she sighed, placing her hands on her hips and gesturing to the now unlit lantern in her hands and shaking it with mild exasperation. "Do ya have a light, child? I'm not so keen to go aroun' feelin' up hedges in the dark…"
MAXWELL AND STANLEY:
Thankfully, due to Maxwell's dodging capabilities and dextrous nature, the two Apprentices avoid a nasty collision. (although it is hard to say whether a collision would've been better than Maxwell landing in the hedge of thorns... ouch...) The sudden appearance of the rainbow biscuit, coupled with his loud greeting startled the petite Apprentice, causing him to yelp in surprise and fall down on his bottom. He seems to be shaking. "B-bunny? Wh-what bunny? Th-there are no bunnies here…only…" The poor boy is trembling slightly, and panting heavily. He seems to have been running away from…something…
Stanley would soon catch up to the duo, since they are just round the corner. One of them is shaking like a leaf on the floor, while the other is flailing around in the thorn bushes in all his colour-bomb glory. Does Stanley leave the two of them and continue onward? Or does he stop to see what is up with this pale Apprentice…?
WALTER:
The middle path that you have chosen appears to be clear and unhindered, without any brambles from the hedge or any leaves littering the ground. That's…strange. You are sure that there should be at least some sort of natural debris on the floor…but there is none. You wonder if you should stop to take a closer look…
If you continue straight, you will eventually come to another split in the path, this one a clear left and a clear right.
SIENNA:
You have chosen the Path of the Roses, but are currently trailing behind Maxwell, followed by Stanley. Depending on how quickly you manage to catch up to them, you may or may not get to listen in on the conversation that Maxwell is currently having with a mysterious pale Apprentice who had popped out of nowhere… Who is he? And more importantly, why does he look like he's been running…from something…?
Or perhaps you'd rather take it slow and cautious, instead of rushing through the throned bushes? We don't want to ruin that adorable outfit now, do we? Who knows…? You might actually discover more whilst taking it slow and easy.

Approaching the duo ahead of him, Stanley grimaced at the sight of Maxwell in the bushes. That's gotta hurt, at least a little. The rainbow hatter was smiling broadly and being as energetic as he's always been though, so Stanley assumed he was alright.
The other threadless person on the other hand was almost as pale as Maxwell was, and Stanley was fairly certain that isn't the boy's normal complexion. The fearful look on the boy's face made it difficult for him to consider skinning him, and he groaned inwardly when he realized he would need to prepare a deathmask beforehand if he wanted faces from threadless folks.
Kneeling down next to the threadless boy, Stanley let out a soft shushing sound, "Deep breaths, you're alright..." he rubbed the younger male's back, quite curious about what had the boy looking so pale, "We don't mean you harm..." ...yet, perhaps, "Now tell us, what scared you so terribly?"
Shifting his gaze to Maxwell, Stanley let out a small "eugh;;;" before offering his cane for Maxwell to hold on to. He could probably pull the other man out of the bushes if he tried, "Are you... alright?" he asked the rainbow Hatter while consoling the trembling boy with his free hand.

"What, what?" Maxwell beamed curiously at the frightened little...apprentice? Oh, nifty! A new friend! or Two new friends. Maxwell waved ecstatically as the Man in the Mask caught up to the scene. Well.....as ecstatically as one caught in a Rose hedge could. Oddly enough, He'd giggle for every little thorn and needle that stabbed through his heavy coat. "It wasn't me, certainly not," He'd bark giddily in defense as Stanley tempted to console the poor boy on the ground.
As a cane was thrust in his face, Maxwell cooed curiously and took hold of the end. He'd take it less as an aid and more as a gift, though. Pulling right back as Stanley heaved him from the bushes, and attempting to snatch the cane from the man. "I'd bet it was my Bunny, that silly little ghost. Are you suuuure you haven't seen him? He's only ye' tall and White as a sheet! In fact...He IS a sheet! Ahahaha!!"

The tug on his cane startled Stanley. This was not supposed to happen-- "H-Hey...!" he cried out in protest, barely able to mask the snarl under his breath as he fought to keep his grip on his cane. With a grunt and a great heave, the Hunter managed to yank the multicolored Apprentice out of the bushes, though Maxwell made no move to release his cane.
"Let go...!!" Stanley tugged a little harder, annoyed that the Hatter wasn't about to let go so easily. One thought crossed his mind as the little game of tug-of-war continued;
'MISTAKES HAVE BEEN MADE.'

((sorrynotsorry))
"Up-is-a-Daisy!" Maxwell chirped as he tumbled forward with a little hop, following the tug of the cane. "What, what? Let go? How rude! This is mine, you see. You gave it to me. Though...I will trade for a sweetie" A few pieces of candy toppled from his hat in the shuffle. The Rainbow Hatter laughed. "What a silly man, Marco! This is fun! Though I REALLY must run. So if I may?" He gave another hop and another pull, leaning backwards suddenly with all his weight to pry away the cane.

"I didn't mean for you to take it, I simply meant to pull you free of the bushes with it!!" he grunted, narrowing his eyes at the Mad Hatter. Eyes widening when Maxwell's weight began to shift, Stanley gave the cane a little more of a pull so it wouldn't slip out of his grip.
"I think not!" Lashing one leg out, Stanley swept at Maxwell's ankles to knock him on his side/back(whichever came first) while fishing for something in his pockets with one hand, "Here, here, I'll trade these mints for the cane, how does that sound?"
He was on the brink of simply pouncing on the Hatter and stabbing him through the eye for all this hassle, to be quite honest. But he opened his hands, revealing a few petite candies, wrapped in a clear sheet. They looked like mints that had chocolate syrup in the center...

MAXWELL & STANLEY:
The boy was trembling too much to speak coherently to either of you, but simply kept shaking his head at Maxwell's insistence that he must've seen a…bunny…in a sheet. …what even…?
The rubbing and the soothing words from Stanley seemed to calm the boy's breathing, just a little, although he didn't seem quite ready to speak yet. As the two of you fight over Stanley's cane, he simply sat on the ground, catching his breath, looking from Maxwell, to Stanley, to Maxwell, to Stanley, over and over, looking as puzzled as one would look to see a doctor-like man in a surgeon's mask and a rainbow biscuit child who was apparently thorn-proof playing a tug of war over a...cane.
A panicked look of realisation seems to strike the boy's face as he suddenly scampers to his feet and waves his hands in exasperation at the two males before him.
"We d-don't have t-time…" is all you manage to hear from him as he flails his thin arms helplessly at you, before stepping beside Stanley to pull frantically on the cane. The quicker he retrieved the man's cane for him, the quicker the group could get out of this maze together…

Dodging the swipe was easy enough, tough Maxwell seemed content with taking the fall. A loud, gasping giggle bubbling past his lips as he locked his knees and let his feet skid across the grass until his back met the ground. His hat toppled off, spilling a whole nights worth of candy across the ground. Oh no! Though he had his eyes on the cane. Such a fine and nifty prop. Bunny would absolutely love it!
" No, no, no! I think so! I'll give YOU the candy and give me the cane? Yes! That is the plan!" Knees bent up to his chest, curled up like ball, Maxwell thrust his feet into the air like an unwound spring, intent to kick Stanley away. O stun him, at best. He would have the prize of his eye! "RAINBOW KICK!!"

MAXWELL & STANLEYMaxwell's actions seemed to send the pale boy into a state of panic. He looked horrified at the emergence of the "Rainbow Kick" and quickly ducks to cover his head, wailing with tears in his eyes, "W-wAIT! WHY ARE W-WE FIGHTING??? WE'RE NOT THE ONES WHO SHOULD BE-" [ Pale Apprentice Shota and Stanley to roll d20 + DEX Stat. If the roll is 15 and above, they manage to dodge Maxwell's RAINBOW KICK in time! Oh, so she did know. "You can see that?" He tilted his head. Someone like him. "That is unusual, isn't it..." He just looked back at her with her silvery thread. Nothing was going to happen to her anytime soon.
"I don't have a light." He shook his head. "I'm sorry I don't." He wasn't expecting much to happen today, actually. Owen had brought little other than the seeds and coin to pacify the bird. Hopefully it could be a warning bell for something down the road. He knew crows, and birds in general could be flighty. Well, nothing too dangerous in this maze, right?
"I can go first, Miss." He offered instead. "I've died first."

Evasion roll, 15 required for successful dodge; > d20 roll = 10 | dex = 7 > 10 + 7 = 17
STR roll for Stanley's retaliation; > d20 roll = 16 | str = 4 > 16 + 4 = 20
-----
Stanley was sick of this. He snarled, feeling his temper flare as he made one last grab for his cane, the thought of retaliation on his mind.
Stanley darted away from Maxwell's kick in time, and with a firm shove to the back of Maxwell's legs while they were airborne, the Hatter found himself once again stuck in the rose bushes, caught in brambles as he was before. With a firm tug while Maxwell was distracted.
Heaving a triumphant sigh, Stanley held his cane tight and turned his attention to his other companion, "Thank god that's over... At any rate, you keep saying something's coming. Just... what is coming?"
His brows furrowed slightly as he waited for the boy to answer.
