It was a rather fine day at headquarters, certainly not one anyone would like to have ruined by the sound which could have been mistaken for nails on a blackboard or a fork on a plate, unfortunately that was exactly what Walters suitcase sounded like when it was dragged across the floor. It wasn't going too well for him to have it behind him so he swapped to walk backwards for the next part of the hallway. The big brown leather rectangle left streaks on the floor as he kept pulling at the handle, he hadn't really noticed until now. "Oh well, will give the servants something to do..." he mumbled to himself as he stopped to look down at a piece of paper. "In the light of recent events you have been assigned a new team...blah, blah, blah, bedroom 001."
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak. Walter finally made his suitcase stop the ear piercing screeching in front of the correct door. He was all for adventure and exploring, but whomever had decided the locations of the rooms should be getting a reap order on their head. They obviously did not own a heavy suitcase for there was no system to the numbering on the apprentice rooms, some sequential numbers weren't even on the same floor. He let out a deep sigh. So many floors. So tired. Very tempted to just collapse on his suitcase, but instead he did the polite thing and knocked on the door.

With the shift of teams happening, Owen and Diana had been cleared of all their shifts today to usher in their new roommates. He had personally been a little hesitant about the newcomers. Petty worries, Diana had told him frequently.
It had been a lazy morning so far, and they had just been sitting about in their bunks, watching time pass while waiting for the new ones to show up. They'd gotten information about them beforehand at least. It was a smidgen less of a surprise.
The knock came somewhat out of the blue after a while of waiting. Hearing it, Owen cleared his sleeves out of the way of his hands as he climbed down the ladder and opened the door. He had to look down to see this apprentice. How unusual. He hadn't roomed with a child apprentice in a while. "Hello." He said with his usual stoic expression, almost monotone in delivery. He wondered how the kid managed to lug such a huge suitcase around.

Bedroom 001, was it? Eva mused out to herself , wondering on what sorts of people she had been teamed up with this time. Whether or not they would work well with her was never a priority, however. It was the extent of reaction she could get out of them that she had the most fun with. As she made her way closer and closer to the room, she would soon happen upon some streak marks on the floor. Pfff, someone too proud to ask for help? That could be a fun person to mess with, but for now, it was more important to meet her new roommates.
Eva would eventually find the room and see that someone had already arrived and another had opened the door. A child...? How interesting, Eva hadn't recalled seeing one so young in quite a long time. While the two were occupied with conversation though, Eva would try to sneak about and just casually stand right behind Walter, waiting to see how long it would take for notice to be had. Perhaps she could get caught in the process, perhaps she could not; After all, there was not much to hide behind in these halls sometimes.

Steps sounded from inside the room. The excitement was building up inside him. Walter had been told something about his new team mates; it was going to be two ladies and one young man - as if that was informative to him who referred to others by what they looked like. Maybe it was a lady that came to open the door, the steps did not sound very heavy.
The door was opened by a boy doing the classical "look over your head and then down to find a small person" thing. He did not look very excited to see a newcomer and it was a rather flat "Hello" he was greeted with. Not that Walter had the time to care - he had instantly gotten very distracted by the other boys long sleeves. This also, unfortunately, meant that his manners flew out the window. Instead of returning the greeting he tilted his head and wrinkled his nose into a curious look. "Did someone put your shirt in a taffy puller?" He envisioned the other boy next to a big colourful machine while the man with the long ponytail called Fate, stuck the sleeves into it, the sleeves manically just going on and on until the shirt was yanked out having twice as long arms.

After pushing the last bobby pin into her victory rolls Diana sighed upon hearing Owen open the door. The new teammates were here but she couldn’t find the heart to be anymore excited about it than watching paint dry. It was too recurring in her afterlife to care for to that extent. Especially since she often tried to work alone or just happened to not get on well with others. It actually came as a surprise Owen was still around in all honesty. She flung the curtains back to her bunk and hopped onto the cool tile floor, sauntering up behind her teammate out of slight interest as to what their new roomies looked like, also because it’s polite to at least introduce yourself. You know, Southern hospitality and all that jazz.
Diana caught sight of the girl first as she snuck up towards the door. Why would she do that when Owen-wait what was he even looking at? Eventually she finally looked down to see a boy with his large suitcase in tow.
‘Oh really now? Death is okay with letting children do the dirty work? What a tickle this is…’ she thought bitterly.
“Hello, ya’ll come on in.” she nodded then walked back inside waiting for them to follow.

Eva would wait as conversation was carried out between the boys. Good....good, they were distracted. The older woman about ready to surprise the young child with sudden tickling up until she heard the voice of another woman. Oh, so she wouldn't be the only one with feminine sense in this room. "Well, hello there, you two. A pleasure to see who else I and this strapping young man," She would place her hands on Wallace's shoulders and shake him lightly. "Have the honor of living out a part of our afterlives with." She smiled, looking over Owen and Diana.
Hmm..one was in a straight jacket and the other looked fairly strong, the sort to be unamused with most things. She chuckled to herself. What a nostalgic vibe. Well, perhaps she would behave herself; People like that tended to not be fun to the former assassin. She would release Wallace and tilt her head to peer into the room. At seeing the futuristic vibe of the contrasting blues and blacks, Eva would give a low whistle. "My, what a lovely set up this place has."

Owen didn't notice the woman walking behind Walter, still focused on speaking with the boy. He lifted his hands and watched his sleeves dangle from them and chuckled at what was said. His expression was its usual blankness in stark contrast. "No..." He smiled with his eyes. "It was made like this." He didn't say any more. He was around that age or so when they gave him this to wear, wasn't he...
He only noticed the woman behind Walter when she started to speak. "Hello." He said again, stepping back away from the door when Diana invited them in. Two rather interesting people as new roommates. Owen wasn't too excited, but perhaps they would get along a little better this time. He led them inside and showed them to their bunks, the set nearer their 'window'. He moved the ladder towards that half of the room for them to use.

The vision of Fate at the taffypuller was shattered when the other boy chuckled with a negative reply. What a shame. It was such an entertaining thought....but who made shirts like that on purpose? He almost started asking more, but the boy moved out of the way to let in another person behind him. It was one of the ladies, a read head in a suit. Walter stiffened. Oh no. Not someone from the office. Please don't work at the office.
Following the other boy inside he attempted to move his suitcase with great dignity, or as much as one can muster when the it's too heavy for you, but he had not gotten further than dragging what still sounded like a dying cat more than halfway across the floor before the handle came off with a snap. He stumbled forward a few steps before regaining his balance. Hopefully no one saw that because the boy was moving a ladder and the lady was....wait, weren't there two ladies? Casting a glance around confirmed this, but instead of admitting to his goofing up by addressing the black lady with the stern face he went to address the people least likely to have seen it. "I wan-" There was a slight delay to his words. 'No. That read head lady probably works at the office. Mind your manners.' He corrected himself rather quickly. "I'd like the top bunk. Please."

“I don’t see why not since you asked shug but that’s somethin’ you’ll have to discuss with umm…darlin’ what’s your name again?” She turned to Eva who Diana felt like something was rather off about to begin with. It may just be that Owen and the child had different airs to their personality than she did. Whatever the reason it would be giving benefit of the doubt until further notice. “Actually excuse me. Don’t believe we introduced ourselves. I’m Diana and he’s Owen.” She jerked a thumb towards her teammate in a blasé fashion.

"Eva, miss. Eva Ivers. A pleasure to meet you, Diana" She revealed her name, putting on a most practiced smile before looking to the young boy. Hmm...to see one so young to apparently be among the ranks of the Apprentices...Eva was not certain whether to feel sorry for Walter or not. He seems to have been carrying things in stride in spite of having left the realm of living so soon. "Well, I see no issue with letting the young man take the upper bed." She chuckled. Besides, someone that small was very unlikely to cause unfortunate things such as....the bunks collapsing on top another.
And the other called Owen. How peculiar to be still dressed in a straightjacket. Last she had thought, HQ wasn't an asylum. Probably someone who hadn't still quite recovered from events in life, she assumed. "I do have to say, this is a most interesting room. Did it come like this?" She took a step further into what would be her new living quarters.

Owen shrieked at the sound of the suitcase, covering his ears. His face frowned at the noise, looking rather displeased with the suitcase on the floor, handleless. He didn't like that, but he didn't say anything. Without a handle, the suitcase wouldn't be doing that anymore...
Shaking his head and squishing his face with his hands, his face was back to its normal blankness, and he looked back on his roomies as if none of that ever happened. He hung his hands close to his chest and just stared at their two new arrivals, before looking back at Diana. Unimpressed as always, she.
He nodded to the new woman. "You can put whatever you want in here," he pointed to the two empty bunks. "Whatever you want." Unsure of what to do next, he sat himself down on the leather couch and watched the three of them.

The most important issue of the day - who gets the tip bunk bed, was cleared. However the gears in Walters head was now churning with the issue of finding the most efficient path up to the bed with the broken suitcase. Dragging it wouldn't help much. Neither would pushing it, not without ruining the floor with the office lady watching. Which left but one option. It would be difficult with a heavy case, a bit of a challenge - but he liked challenges, they were just games with the setting "hard".
Flipping the suitcase over to it's side towards the ladder he addressed the question Owen had ignored. "The rooms in this place always come like you see them." Heaving the suitcase up on it's side again, obviously treating the object like a rectangular ball, he went on talking between the thumping sound of whenever the suitcase was hitting the floor. "The only exception is if a pathfinder painted something on the walls to mark them." Thump. "Which are the rooms past the explorers club." Thump. "Never two of the same," Thump. "all different colours, shapes, windows," Thump. "no windows, trees, flowers" Thump. "and it has stuff from wherever whenever all around." He stopped the bottom of the ladder, catching his breath with a smile.

“What on Earth?...” Diana raised an eyebrow at her roommate. If it hadn’t been for the fact she had known prior what caused his discomfort she’d almost have ask him more seriously. “…Right…okay. Yes, nice to meet you too Ms. Eva and…” she turned to the smaller boy to ask his name but was thoroughly interrupted by a continuous “thump” noise. Oh no, she would not be putting up with that child’s suitcase anymore today. Diana let him finish “rolling” it towards the beds before taking it from his hands and heaving it onto his new bed. She had half a mind to plop him up there too but was sure he would much prefer to climb the ladder.
“What they said.” Pointing a thumb towards Walter and a finger in Owen’s direction she then continued. “The rooms all come this way. Why we couldn’t have a normal room I’ll never know. As if someone wouldn’t notice they stuck a bunch of older folk in a futuristic room. Still haven’t figured out how to get the window to be a normal window…if it can be.” She muttered the last part of her rant then hopped up into her bunk feeling rather moody now. The woman almost had half a mind to turn over, close her curtains, and ignore them all for the rest of the day but instead she tried to be decent company for the time being.

Upon hearing Owen suddenly shriek, Eva would raise a brow. So this one was sensitive to any semblance of loud noises. Pff, that's going to be fun to take advantage of. The woman would smirk slightly at that. And then this one...She looked to Walter. The stubborn sort it seemed, but perhaps that would make encouraging some pranks the most fun by posing them as challenges. She did know of a person the boy could have fun climbing. Eva knew enjoyed that herself considering that her friend was as tall as some small trees.
After hearing the explanation regarding the rooms, Eva would just look over the walls. Hmmm, a most peculiar state to be in for this room then. Well, she could certainly make due with the arrangement. "Ahaha, yes, most ironic isn't it?" She would muse upon hearing Diana's comment. "I'm sure we can change it somewhat by giving it the charm of the eras we once lived in."

Naturally everyone seemed to have some reaction to his shrieking, though that didn't bother Owen at all. He just wanted no more noise...
The room certainly didn't fit any of them. "Yes... I'm tidy old... Are you tidy old too?" He turned to Eva and Walter. He could tell their apparent ages at least, but who knew how old they really were. Eva seemed a little more old fashioned and Walter younger, but that reflected the age they looked. Owen couldn't really work it out, and he ended up staring at the two, trying to answer his question himself.
