Marion was quite content. A new dress and the promise of teaching a new friend the Charleston. All that, and an opportunity to eat in her favorite guilty-pleasure bakery-turned cafe in Deaths HQ. Really, she was surprised that more people didn't crowd around 'The Cat's Meow'. The cupcakes were to die for, and even the food took her back to the Southern cooking of her past- Although she would never, ever admit that that played any factor in her enjoyment of the cafe at all.
Marion settled in her favorite chair by the door so she could watch passerbys as she pleased. She hadn't been able to resist the appeal of a lovely custard pie, despite it being lunch and her knowing that pie was certainly not a proper meal. But she enjoyed it all the same, finding that, for once, she wished she had learned to cook. Perhaps she could convince Jayden to teach her to cook some day... But no, that wouldn't work. She'd set a fire just through toast alone. Better she enjoyed food from the sidelines. The safe, comforting sidelines.
It was times like now that Marion wished she would tell someone else about the delightful little cafe. She had always felt too attached to it to mention it to someone else, and the faint smattering of people made it seem almost.... special. But sitting here, alone, was almost too much to bare. How did anyone do it? Being alone with.... Thoughts? It was just all so chaotic!

Cravings are funny little things. Cravings can make you search for a cozy little cafe that can hardly be found on the maps. Oh, but Winona loved The Cat's Meow. Sure, nothing beat comforting taste of soul food that her family made, but whenever she wanted something a little simpler from her era, it didn't hurt to visit. And their desserts were definitely the cat's meow! But...she'd only found the place twice, and could never remember where it was, so she'd spent quite some time trying to find it. And finally, there it was!
Humming as she strolled inside, she quickly ordered a shrimp cocktail--not exactly a lunch, but it was what she was craving nonetheless. She'd come back for one of their darb desserts later. Back to singing, she started her search for a seat, eyes giving the place a once over. It was a rather slow day, huh? She didn't mind, smaller crowds were a bit more intimate, and if she wanted, she could avoid talking to anyone. But...she was in a chatty mood.
Her eyes landed on a table by the door, occupied by a smartly dressed girl with...short bobbed hair. Another doll from the 20s? She surely dressed like she was. Usually, Win wouldn't go out of her way to talk to someone from her era who was...well...white, as it brought back unsavory memories. But she looked nice enough. Maybe she could get some entertaining conversation going. Humming, she made a beeline toward the table, snacking on a single shrimp as she went. Once she arrived, Winona spoke with a charming smile. "Mind if I join you? That pie looks the berries~" she said with a smile.

Marion didn't notice the girl until she had spoken, too absorbed with her pie. She looked up at her words in surprise, giving her a quick once over. It was so strange- She looked and sounded just like some of the gals from back home. From the twenties. Immediately Marion smiled and gestured at the chair across from her, "Oh, do sit down, would you! It certainly is swell, all the desserts in this quaint little place are," She found herself slipping back in some of the slang from the old days, but she couldn't help herself. Of course, Marion loved meeting new people, and the difference in eras didn't much faze her. However, she found herself quite missing some of the traditions from her day and age that no one else seemed to understand. If this doll was-as she hoped- from the twenties, they could have much to talk about, "Oh, I just adore your dress! I'd say its the cat's meow, but..." She looked around the restaurant and laughed, "I'm usually not one to make such obvious puns"

"Thank you kindly," Winona said, taking the chair that the lady had offered. "Their pineapple upside-down cake is to die for~" she added, before taking another bite of her shrimp. Looking the gal over again, she tried to form an opinion of her. She was dressed to the nines, with the overall look of a flapper. She had always envied those stylish, rebellious girls when she was alive, only getting a taste of that life for a few months. The memory made her...slightly miffed, so hearing the jane complement her outfit was a nice change of thought. "Ah, thank you! Likewise with yours, and your headband is so nifty~" she said, chuckling at her almost-pun. "My name's Winona." She added, before eating another shrimp. Hm, so far, so good. Then, as a...somewhat polite way of prying, she asked, "Where are you from?"

"The pineapple upside down cake you say? I must try it!" Marion didn't seem to notice the initial judgement, and gladly returned a chuckle. After all, the pun was certainly terrible. But at least it had perhaps broken the ice a tad, "Ah, you're too kind!" She tugged the headband almost self consciously, making sure it covered any trace of scarring. She almost didn't hear the question originally, so she replied with a winning smile, "Oh, I'm from Team 17! Ah, they're really the berries," She paused, slowly running over the other girl's words slowly, "Oh... You meant... Um. Yes, I'm from New York. The Twenties. Really, a lovely time. Not internet mind you, if you're one of those more modern janes-" Personally, she hoped perhaps the doll was from around her time period, but she knew she couldn't assume. After all, she so rarely met someone who could relate to her, "-But it was entertaining all the same. Really a lovely sense of style, but you seem to already know that. How bout you, doll?"

Winona listened with interest as the gal spoke, generally enjoying to hear others speak. Well, until she mentioned how lovely the Twenties were. She must've been a highly privileged upperclass bird, because Winona's reality was far from that. Well, she knew the girl meant well, and that she'd opened herself up to the gal's somewhat oblivious comments. She'd still say something though, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Yes, a wonderful time; prohibition, the KKK running rampant, but the fashions were absolutely fantastic." She said, taking another bite. She did honestly love the 20s' fashion, but everything else was a load of bull--at least for her and her family.
"Ah, but anyways, I came from the twenties too, Chicago. Nowadays I work with Team 9, haven't met them yet, though. I'm also a swell jazz singer 'round these parts. You should come visit one day, a gal like you surely loves jazz~" She said the last bit with an honest smile. Singing was the one main joy she had left after being dead so long, and it didn't hurt to try and invite more listeners. "And you?"
((wHEEZE I'm so sorry for the delay!!! also for Win's shade haha))
