Another day with more reaping orders was just but another day to the former assassin. Seeing as there was someone else to deal with the paperwork, however, what better time to spend a finished workday than to harass play catch up with an old friend? The woman hummed to herself as she thought on the prospects of another fun filled time of witty exchanges and quips with the red-headed viking. Hmm...had it been that long since she last clambered onto his shoulders only to poke fun at him for being too tall? Eva huffed to herself for having been too diligent. Well then, she'd have to make up for lost time starting today.
For now, she would go looking over by where she generally knew where there were team rooms....But there was the larger matter of finding which one was specifically Joakim's. Eva would pause, thinking to herself before stepping off to the side to try and brainstorm on better ideas. This was a most reckless pursuit as is and seeing as it had been ages since she last got in contact with the viking, perhaps wandering aimlessly about wasn't the best idea nor best use of her time...Heck, she didn't even know who his current teammates were so there went the idea of asking his teammates too. "Hrmmm...."

He was evading paperwork again. Mostly because Amsteria wasn't around to help double-check his reports and because he wanted some time to himself. There's been some team re-allocation again and he'd gotten up early to see if his team had been shuffled. So far, no news yet but he didn't see any of their names in the list. One of the names did make him scoff though.
Eva Ivers. What'd she do this time, sneak frogs into everyone's drinks, yelled 'hocus pocus' and made everyone want a Witch Hunt Version 2.0? Not that she was the cause of team shuffling, but ehhhh. She may well have been.
That was two hours ago. His team had gone and split up, each tending to their own agendas. Amsteria had texted them saying that the Pathfinders and Cartographers had gotten together and were attempting to rearrange their office to make room for newly-mapped areas of HQ (and maybe make some more elbow room so people won't need a waist-size requirement to shimmy between tables.
One of Shorinaga's colleagues had called in sick and he was now handling two classes of new Apprentices simultaneously while Grim was busy in the infirmary helping the rest of the medics clear out old medicine stocks that should be disposed of by now.
All around, it was a busy day. Joakim himself was supposed to go and have a sit-down with the other Guardians, something about reporting Hunter activity and maybe update their records of known Hunters. Not that they encounter them a dime a dozen, just that since the masquerade party, everybody's been on edge, particularly HQ's line of defense.
Joakim didn't feel like sitting around talking about people they should be looking out for. Everywhere was a battlefield in the human world right now and the only thing differentiating them from Hunters was whether or not they had a flower on them and if they were gonna cut open the next Apprentice they see. The large man would just... catch up with them later.
For now, he sat by a stream he found a ways from the HQ and cast the line of his makeshift fishing rod. The presence of fish in the stream was questionable, but the act of fishing itself was already working its magic in the way of helping him relax.

Well...if it was clear that he wasn't here, then perhaps it would be best to think on what his other tendencies for downtime were...hoping that he was even not all that busy. It wasn't too often when a reaper found time in the day to go take it easy, after all. For now, Eva would start to head the way back where she had come from. Let's see..not knowing where his room was eliminated one of the options which would leave a couple of other place she had recalled seeing him at over the many years they had known each other.
As she continued through the passageways of HQ, Eva would catch glimpse of some of the more important news as of late. Something about convincing Fallen to return to the side of the Apprentices or cautions against an increase of Hunters. Eva sighed at the prospect of having to deal with even more of such threats. Sure, in HQ she could handle attacks from the others here but there was a reason why Hunters had stayed out of the grasp of Apprentices and it was not one she would like to experience firsthand.
"Hmmm..." She mused out to herself again. If there was all this hubbub about increased dangers, that would mean that most everyone would be kept busy with new duties and perhaps meetings. That eliminated another of the locations she had seen the viking at, which would narrow things down to....Of course he would take to such a place during this time. Eva huffed amusedly to herself, heading down over to the stream she had seen him relax with fishing at.
After finding her way over to where the water flowed, sure enough, there he was; Good old Mr. Bear, hunting some fish. The woman would smirk and step about cautiously, trying to avoid immediate detection by Joakim. Once she was a few feet away from him, she would make a run to try to clamber up his back and perch herself on his shoulders. She always did like the view from up there and, of course, his continued lack of amusement with her.

The rustling of grass behind him was a sign that he foolishly ignored.
So there he was, sitting at the streamside with a fishing rod in one hand and a red-haired witch sitting on his shoulders which made him wish he sat under a tree with low branches. Would've been all kinds of satisfying and rewarding to hear her bash her head against said low branch.
"...Hej to you too, Eva." Joakim's tone sounded tired. Not exactly tired of whatever was going on, but rather tired of Eva's bullshit stealth which has so far never failed in helping her sit on his shoulders and completely bypassing his 6th sense for danger in general.
She really was a witch sometimes. Or a magician, depending on how one looked at things. Tilting his head back slightly, Joakim looked up at Eva through his bangs, "I thought you were finally dead." A smirk played on the corners of his lips as the woman essentially made herself comfortable like he was some kind of chair for her.
To this, Joakim pat her knee with enough force for the hit to sting slightly, "Now get the fuck off, midgets should stay close to the ground."

Haha! Success once again. Eva smirked as she indeed made herself comfortable on his shoulders. "Hello, Mr. Bear~ My, it's been quite a while since I've last been able to have a view like this. You having fun catching your next meal?" Yes, these jokes were always routine when it came to him and after this moment, man did she realize that she had missed these sorts of things so. She would start to sink into her sitting position to rest her chin on the top of his head, but would just as quickly stop upon feeling him shift slightly.
Upon hearing him quip that he had thought her dead, Eva would laugh lightly; not cackle. Cackles were reserved for more dastardly tricks, not an old routine she had decided to return to at last. "Psssh, just because I haven't had as much time to bother you like this doesn't mean that I've kicked the bucket for good." She would then pause and then gasp. "Does this mean you missed me~?" Eva would start to continue until feeling the impact onto her knee. "Hmmmmmmm let me think about it." She would pause again, pretending to give it some thought. "No." The woman would then sink into where she sat and rested her chin against his head, grinning all the while and satisfied with the current arrangement.

"Was having tons of fun before you appeared," Joakim said with a smirk, keeping an eye on his fishing line. Not that he was ever going to concentrate with Eva sitting on his shoulders like that, "Oi, if I missed you, there wouldn't have been ages of silence between us. Seriously, we've had each other in our contacts list since cellphones were a thing and we just didn't bother getting in touch. Thanks for checking up on me once in a while, PAL." his tone dripped with sarcasm, though this kind of talk was hardly new to the both of them.
He felt her chin on his head and grumbled under his breath, "Would've been pretty interesting to know someone could kick your bucket, to be honest. I swear you have the survival instincts of a fucking cockroach."
The dane took a moment to let Eva chuckle before continuing, "In case it isn't obvious, that means you can't seem to fucking die. Stop surviving so well." He couldn't help but grin. They both were glad they were still around.
"At any rate... How's the weather up there?" his tone was playful as he reeled his line in. No fish yet...

She would but chuckle and give Joakim a tussle of his hair in response to their mentioned lack of contact. Though to be honest, sometimes Eva would forget to use or acknowledge the existence of the damn thing. With how fancy phones had gotten over time, there were just so many distractions available in the form of apps that the woman found it better to use it as little as possible. "Well, let's just say habits die hard and phones have all sorts of things to harbor them these days." She mused and then laughed at the comparison of her to a cockroach.
Yes yes, she was most difficult to get rid of, wasn't she? "And you have the durability of the strongest and wildest of large beasts. Can't think of nary a thing that would be able to take you down head on." Eva mused as she started to gently kick her legs into the air. "Oh the weather? Most fantastic, but in all honesty, it is the views I enjoy the most from up here." She would watch as the man reeled in his line. Were there even any fish in those waters? From what she had understood, they were in a realm of the dead...so did that apply to animals as well?

Can't think of anything that could take him down, huh? Joakim laughed at that. Partially because it was true, and at the same time, partially because it was untrue. If he were as unstoppable as she made him out to be, he probably wouldn't have died in the first place, but ehhhh. What happened, happened.
He ran his fingers through his hair idly, just to smooth out what Eva had tousled while the 'witch' continued to seat herself on his shoulders, "Your finally coming out to play would mean you either have way too much time on your hands or your dorm room is finally in the vicinity of mine or something. I heard about the recent team shuffling, did you get caught in that? My team's still intact."
For the time being, he didn't mind his team at all, which was... actually an impressive feat. If the people in his team were more chicken-hearted, he probably would've left them for dead (against his better judgment) or bullied the hell out of them.
Or just plain not get along with them.
Heaven save them if Eva and he were on the same team again. ...That was a thought, but naaaaah he liked the peace between him and his new teammates--

Eva would cross her arms at that. "My dorm be in close proximity to yours? I wish." Her mouth slanted. "Though I would think on your end, you wouldn't like the prospect of someone like me coming to bother you every day." She cackled. "As for the team shuffling...I suppose you could say that I did get caught in that. There's a rather stern looking woman, a young boy and...an older boy." Eva would pause briefly to try to think on what was notable about Owen. "One with a straight jacket of all things. Does make me worry about standards here if someone seems to treat our dearest HQ as an asylum."
That said, she was fairly content with her team. Diana reminded her of her old acquaintance from when Eva was alive and Walter...well, he brought up fond memories of her daughter and the life of motherhood. The last person...Eva still had yet to really come up with a verdict with, but he was easy enough to ignore if she needed to. She then snickered. Ah yes...he almost seemed as jumpy as....
Eva would look down at Joakim. The person she had in mind...well, it was probably not appropriate to joke about around Joakim. Instead of quipping about it, she would pat down Joakim's hair and then rest her chin against the top of his head.
