Sienna was wandering towards the bird keeping rooms. Usually she tried to not come too often. Not for any lack of love for the birds, but because she felt a bit like she might be in the way sometimes. But she just couldn’t help herself. What if there was a flamingo in here waiting to be admired from a short distance. Such pretty birds. So pink and majestic. Those long necks that looked delicate yet strong. If only she had a fraction of those traits. Instead she was short and squat and shades of brown. She’d look like bread mold standing next to one. However this did not make her love for them any less. And thus she often dropped by the bird keepers to see if any had arrived.
Of course she always brought some bread and seeds so as not to be eaten alive by the ones that seemed to perpetually hate them. But her frequent visits had seemed to make them less apt to gouge her eyes out much like the Birds movie by Hitchcock. Hm she’d avoided this place for a month after watching that particular film.
Finally she walked into the room her basket of goodies in hand and ready to throw out should any beaks go eyeing her with murderous intent. Her eyes began scanning for Owen who seemed to be as much a part of this room as she was of her cleaning supplies. She’d brought him something as well. Would be rude to feed the birds and not their boy. The lights from above were soft but bright as she shielded her eyes and looked around for a sign of pink or the boy in question.

The keeper's room was certainly large. It was even more amazing to think that there were multiple rooms like this in HQ. Owen found himself in the main one, tending to some owls. He was seated on a bench next to two plump looking birds, scribbling on a form attached to a clipboard on his lap while his free hand helped complete a quick inspection of the birds.
The one who he wasn't attending to turned to he side and gave a hoot. Owen looked up to it, then looked towards where its head pointed. Over there stood a lost looking person, figure drawn in the gentle light.
"Hello Sienna." He said plainly, before turning back to his work.

Sienna eventually spotted the mostly still form of Owen nestled between two birds. It was cute how much he seemed at ease in here despite how much these animals tended to hate a lot of the apprentices.
"Hello Owen." She greeted softly, her hands clutched loosely around the basket in front of her as she looked at the birds beside him with some hesitation. Smiling a little she glanced around and then looked back to the boy who was now working hard. It made her think back on that small fiasco in the hall with the ice cream and the dirt. While it had been short lived it had been kind of fun.
He looked busy though and the flighty house maid was tempted to just leave him be but she had to ask. "Hey Owen... do um, you ever get ... flamingos in here?" She asked looking hesitant but ever hopeful.

He continued on with his work, finishing off this owl before letting it go. He finished off the sheet of paper before replacing it with another clean form. He started on the other owl when Sienna asked him a question.
"Flamingos... We get flamingos." He smiled with his eyes. "Do you like flamingos?" They came from time to time, though he was sure in the vastness of HQ there were some permanent residents.

"I-I do!" Sienna replied in a rush and with a bit more passion than was usually given to her responses, She loved flamingos and was quite pleased to hear that the large pink birds did in fact frequent the HQ. "Um are uh they... are t-there any here now?" She asked as her grip on the basket handle tightened and loosened in apprehension. It was kinda cool that he was brave enough to work in here with all these birds all the time. While she liked the animals for the most part she couldn't imagine having to deal with them so often. Her nerves wouldn't be able to take it.
"I um well... i-if your busy I can just w-wait." She offered quickly as she remembered her manners. How rude of her, barging in and asking for something while he was obviously busy. But when it came to the few things she really enjoyed she often got ahead of herself and over-stepped her boundaries and often she had to backpedal out of a situation because of it.

"There aren't any here." He told her. "There might be some elsewhere." He wondered though. He did recall coming across some once in his many years working here. It wasn't in this part of the keeper's grounds though. He was back inspecting the owl, then stopped. He couldn't think about two things at once.
"Elsewhere isn't far." He continued after deciding to pause his actions. "I'm not far from done." He then resumed checking on the owl. He lifted up its wings, ruffled some feathers somewhat in an orderly manner. All the while he was scribbling down on the clipboard, signing off at the bottom of the page and whispering some thanks to the owl before it flew off.
Looking at it go, Owen got to his feet and looked over his papers. He looked up from the clipboard and nodded at Sienna. "I'm done now." was all he said before he heading towards reception to toss in the files. He gestured Sienna to follow him.

"Ah I see....Oh really?" Sienna asked looking disappointed and then hopeful as she waited with baited breath. He announced suddenly that he was almost finished with his work. Nodding she turned to look at the birds nearby. Cautions but curious all the same as her golden eyes studied each one with a silent fascination. There were so many types. All the colors and shapes. It was like a living tapestry at points.
She turned back as Owen proclaimed he had finished and silently followed him, her eyes looking and searching for that tell tale shade of pink she adored so much. She wanted to ask about the potential flamingos but held off her probing questions in favor of watching her guide and the birds respectively.

He walked on to a different sector of the keeper's area, and the air grew a little warmer and a little thicker. The sounds in the air changed, and so did the birds. As they continued, they became more and more colourful, more vibrant and excitable. Even the decor and plants altered slightly.
After a short walk, Owen wiped the beginnings of sweat beads from his brow and looked around. "Should be flamingos here..." he said aloud, looking for the pink creatures himself.

The birds somehow just got prettier and prettier as they walked on and once or twice Sienna tripped over something in the way due to not keeping her eyes on the ground. It had also gotten warmer she'd noticed as she tugged at her sleeves kind of wishing she'd worn something cooler here rather than her heavy jacket.
"Oh here?" She asked looking ecstatic for a moment as her eyes searched the sea of birds like a child looking for Santa and his reindeer amongst the stars. Saying she was getting excited would be an understatement. It wasn't like she hadn't seen the birds up close but they were just so near and dear to her heart it was like coming home seeing one.

He buckled his sleeves together and draped the belts behind his neck, pulling up his sleeves. It was much hotter here, but not unbearable. This would do for now. He wiped his brow again and looked out over the room of birds.
Owen began to walk in through the birds, and they cleared out of the way for him. He looked behind to make sure they were doing the same for Sienna. "Do you see any flamingos? I don't see any..." they might have to keep looking.

Sienna watched as Owen puled back on some of his clothes freeing himself up enough as the temperature rose. She got a little overheated herself and only pulled her sleeves up a bit as she continued on. Apparently they'd reached their destination since he began actively searching the flock of mesmerizing birds. There was no need to worry about her keeping up as she was right on Owen's heels. All these birds. While they were lovely, there was just something off-putting about there being so many all at once.
Sienna glanced around, looking for a flamingo with wide, eyes. She spotted something kind of like it off to the right and pointed but ti moved around a corner just out of sight. "I um, was that one?" She asked in a rush as she waited for him to move forward as she was still a little hesitant to do so alone.

Owen stopped suddenly to look at her when she mentioned seeing one. He looked out over the birds again. He wasn't sure. "Where was that one?" he pointed out to the room absentmindedly, hoping she'd point out where it went. There were a lot of colourful birds in this part of the place, but not a lot of them were pink. It wouldn't be hard to spot one. He looked back at Sienna expectantly.

"S-straight ahead." Sienna gestured, and pointed so he could see where she meant. It was a good 20 feet away and surrounded by birds of all sorts of colors and sizes. Ah she was getting really anxious now. She really hoped there was one here. But what if it hated her? What if the bird wasn't friendly and only wanted to peck her hands in anger? Humming softly to calm herself she nodded and waited for Owen to move forward so she could follow and hopefully catch up to their elusive prey.

Owen looked back ahead of him, and it just looked like another flock of birds. He wasn't sure if he could make out some pink or not. But if they wanted to find one, it would be out there somewhere. Sienna's humming caught his attention and he swung back for a moment. She looked scared for some reason. Then again, it did take some guts to work in this room, he'd learned over the years. "You're tidy nervous... Don't be nervous." he smiled with his eyes. The birds are scary, but they listen to me, he thought to himself. Most times, he thought again.

Sienna looked a bit puzzled at Owen's comment as he turned back to her. But she nodded once hoping to reassure him that despite her apprehension she was fine. "Ah r-right, sorry." She responded, a hand reaching up to tug slightly at her braid as she did so. It usually helped calm her nerves. But she was just so excited. She'd always been too afraid to approach them on her own. But with Owen here she just knew that if they did indeed find one that it would all work out for the best. "Ah there!" She called out in her usual quiet tone but with a shiver of excitement in her voice. There was a flamingo here. A beautiful pink flamingo. That long majestic neck, she smitten at first sight. Now if only she could find the courage to approach it. She cast a quick glance to her younger companion and resisted the urge to cling to one of his long sleeves for support.
