This was her chance.
Sienna had been patiently and slowly planning to repay a debt. Ever since that random outing with Amsteria and Joakim she’d been trying to find someway to return the favor the lumberjack had done for her. Sure it was just a drink but that didn’t mean it should be looked over. She was dutifully wheeling her cart down the hallway before stopping around the corner in what looked to be a mostly deserted wing of the HQ. From there she leaned around to see the empty hall and the room in question.
The last week or so had been spent tracking and learning the schedule of this room’s occupants not much unlike a stalker or some weird creep. She couldn’t be caught of course she was sure there was some rule against going into other rooms without permission. Not that she was stealing something or making a mess. Quite the opposite. She’d come to leave something. A small sack clutched in her hand held inside a can of bubblegum flavored soda.
Sighing she smiled a little as her plan seemed to be taking form without a hitch. Still there was a chance it could go awry. But she couldn’t let herself be overcome by negative thoughts. The sooner this was over the better. Shaking her head free of them she strode forward and took one last glance to besides to be sure no one was around. Seeing no one she leaned an ear to the door. Nothing was heard inside save for the dull groan that all buildings and structures had. It was all clear!
She opened the door, slipped inside and began looking to where she’d need to place the item. Finally she spotted a bed that looked well, manly enough and moved that way. After quickly surveying them all she decided on the one and began pulling the can out so she could set it someplace inconspicuous and leave.

He should have just gone straight to the Guardian's Room like he planned. The initial idea was to go there for his morning training, after all. He should have just ignored that annoying, nagging voice at the back of his head that told him... He forgot to put away his carving knife and the little wooden totem he was carving for his brother's birthday. Sure, the other viking had already ascended, but he thought he'd prepare a gift earlier for when the day actually rolled around.
But he couldn't shake the feeling that he'd left it out in the open off of his mind. So with a grunt, Joakim turned on his heel and headed right for his team room once more. He just needed to-- Hm?
He paused in mid-walk as the door to his team dorm came into view. It was ajar, and he could have sworn he was the last person out, therefore the last person to make sure that the door was properly closed. This was... odd. He was sure he closed the door... Without a second thought, the viking strode towards the room and opened the door the rest of the way, wondering if one of his teammates had doubled back because they forgot something as well. The sight in the room was not exactly one that he was expecting, per se. Joakim's brows furrowed as he looked at a familiar figure try to put something on the window seat they had in the room.
"Sienna? The hell're you doing here?" the question was completely innocent, the swear word being the one thing he could never remove from his speech entirely. He crossed his arms over his chest, tilting his head slightly in a quizzical manner. Joakim wasn't angry in the least, just... puzzled. Did Grim somehow sucker her into cleaning their room for them or something? That's... pretty low if that was the case. He waited for a response, though. He hoped he was getting one, at least.

The voice behind her nearly made Sienna leap out of her skin in surprise. Instead she let out a squeak and froze in place and clutched the can to her chest so as not to drop it and then they'd have a mes on their hands. Her throat was suddenly dry and she swallowed in an attempt to relieve it. Of all the people to find her in the act... why him?! He sounded kind of angry too, and rightly so. Finding a creeper in your room was hardly a normal thing. The poor maid could feel her knees shaking beneath her skirts and wished she had another hand to quiet the nervous action.
Finally she turned her head slightly to look at him, as usual her gaze settling on the spot to the right of his head. She looked as afraid as she felt though she did try to reign in her emotions to some degree. She'd come here to give him something after all, not cause any harm. But maybe in hindsight, sneaking in was harm all on its own. As deftly as she could manage she turned to face him while slowly moving the can to the small of her back where she kept her hands clasped behind her. Now to lie. She was awful at lying. But giving the real reason would be much too embarrassing.
"I... I um was just.... checking for d-dirty laundry," She admitted with a trembling sigh. it wasn't a total lie was doing laundry right now. while she didn't do everyone's all that was needed was for someone to ask and she'd happily add them to her roster. She chanced a look to hsi face but quickly darted her eyes away. Even if she couldn't se his eyes she got the feeling they'd be terribly intense right now and imagining it was making her so anxious. "I.. can come back l-later." she offered hoping for a quick out and an end to thsi awkwardness

"Uh-huh..." he started slowly at Sienna's explanation, not exactly convinced due to how she was standing. If he was being nasty, he'd assume that she was holding some kind of joke item behind her, like a whoopee cushion or something. But to what end? Rationally speaking though, Sienna just might have one of Amsteria's undergarments behind her. Again, that wasn't really possible. Amsteria wouldn't be careless enough to leave her undergarments in plain view when the rest of her team were men.
Uncrossing his arms, Joakim rested one hand on his hip and reached up with his free hand to scratch the back of his head. He wasn't sure what to say to the small woman in front of him, especially since she looked like she'd been cornered by a Hunter or something.
The large man sighed, "...Has anybody told you you're not a very good liar?" He knew a several very good ones, and a few horrible ones and Sienna definitely wasn't a good one. Not with that line, at least, "No offense, you must be good at washing laundry or something, but the occupants of this room do their own laundry." He then pointed at Sienna, motioning with his pointed finger for the maid to turn around.
"Now what've you got behind you? That looks suspicious as all hell."

It was fairly obvious that Joakim wasn't buying her excuse. Not that she'd really expected as much but she'd had to try something. Fidgeting slightly as he continued to assess the situation she in turn was looking for a way to escape. Sadly while she might have been able to go mostly toe-to-toe with great Professor Hershel Layton mentally.... physically she was not as adept as she would like, though she was working on that particular aspect.
Her bad lie was then called out and she shrunk back a bit, her hands clinging to the can of soda behind her like a lifeline. "I uh..." She muttered in some failed attempt to insist she was indeed a good liar. Of course she wasn't. But she'd never had to be either. Clarence had always been the reason she was in trouble anyhow when she was alive and he'd always managed to talk his way out of any repercussions.
But now, here she stood. Caught in the act of breaking and entering. An honest to goodness criminal. And look how bad she was failing at it! If only she had an ounce of Clarence's boldness she was sure she could get out of this. But she didn't. And since her temporary captor had called her out on everything along with her hiding something behind her back she sighed and slowly pulled the brightly decorated can of soda out nd held it towards him. Her face was cast straight down so he couldn't easily see just how massively embarrassed she was.
"I um... just... wanted to... l-leave this h-here."

The last thing he would expect to see was that can. Was that really all this whole thing was about? He chuckled at this, the sound deep, hearty and good-natured as his stance relaxed some, "Ærligt..." he muttered, shaking his head slightly, "You didn't have to, you know. Was this because of last time? I meant to just give it to you, no returns needed."
He leaned against the door frame then, eyeing Sienna for a moment and how she was generally avoiding eye contact altogether. It amused him, somewhat. One could only keep that up for so long, but it looked like Sienna could keep going without eye contact for... a really, REALLY long while.
"There's a little table with wheels by the cupboard to your right, just leave the can there." Joakim had to be specific, not knowing if the maid would know where said table was if he only pointed at it, seeing how she looked like her shoes were the most interesting things in the world at the moment.
Almost as an afterthought, Joakim asked the small young lady, "Why bubblegum soda, though?" he raised a brow, "Did someone tell you I liked it? Because I don't. Bit too sweet for my tastes." he shrugged though, almost dismissively, "It's fine, just put it down before you drop it. I'll drink it when I feel like having something sweet." he added as he watched Sienna's hand pause in mid-air, shaking slightly.
Geez, she's so jittery;;;
"Also." Sienna probably was mentally screaming right now with how much Joakim had to say, but the viking was curious, "You came at a weird time. Should've come around lunch time, at least someone would be here to take it off your hands. ...Besides, if you only wanted to drop off that can, why'd you have to lie to me in the first place?"

Despite the chuckling Sienna still looked a bit alarmed as she looked at him and the can and back to him. he said something in another language causing her head to shift ever so slightly to the right in confusion. He continued though and she dropped her head back down quickly to eye her shoes far below. It had indeed been intended to repay him for the last time. She wasn't used to being given things and certainly not so much with no strings attached. And when she did things like this happened.
As he continued on she looked surprised for a moment as he claimed the soda was in fact not his favorite. What? Well it would seem she'd made a grave error.
"Ah um..." she muttered softly in some attempt to respond and ended up clamping her mouth shut. as she finally walked over to the table he'd mentioned and stood there. Why did she come at this time? Would it be wise to tell him she'd been tracking their movements and had deduced this time of day to be perfect for her plans? Probably not. The can was placed on the table which she fingered quietly until the logo faced her. Sighing she turned to face him, her hands clasped together in front of her.
"I.... I d-didn't want to b-be seen." She stated simply. Think of how much harder it would've been had people been there anyhow.
"And I am s-s-sorry this soda wasn't t-to your liking...but would you... m-maybe..." For a brief moment she glanced to his face and then away once more. "M-maybe you could.... t-tell me what you do l-l-like?" Hopefully he gave her something to work with. Regardless of what he said she had to repay him, she had to. Kindness was rare and she'd hate to let it go unrewarded.

Not wanting to be seen sounded a little strange to him as he listened to her talk, still very much unaware that he was blocking her exit, "Why not? It's not like you mean any harm in coming here." he shrugged at this, pushing himself off of the door frame and walking over to his bed. On top of the fur blanket he had was a white cloth, and on top of that was an unfinished wooden carving, wood chips, a leather sheathe and a very sharp carving knife. He slipped the knife into the sheathe before tucking it away under his pillow, placed the unfinished wooden carving next to said pillows and bundled the wood chips up before opening the window and throwing them out that way while Sienna was talking.
"I told you it's fine, stop apologizing." his tone was matter-of-fact as he looked over at the timid maid and sighed, "If we're talking about drinks..." he gave it a bit of thought. If he told her he liked certain types of alcohol, she'd probably hunt for it and slip the bottle in here like the shoemaker's elf or something. Folding the cloth and tucking it into his pocket, Joakim replied to her question, "I like lemon or lime soda. And in exchange," he crossed his arms over his chest again, the action becoming more and more of a common occurence with the viking, "You have to tell me one thing that you like. Consider your answer payment enough for the drink I gave you. Deal?"

Sienna wasn't sure how to say that her earliest lessons were to be invisible in all she did and so she said nothing. Old habits just died really hard. She'd been dead far longer than she'd been alive and still those same lessons and rules compelled her to continue on. She watched curiously as he cleaned up his wood carving bits and set the item he was working on next to some pillows.
Being told to stop apologizing was of course responded to with an apology. "Ah I-I'm sorry... I-I-I m-mean I'm uh... " She couldn't say she was not sorry after all and simply let it go as he was now seemingly about to tell her what drinks he preferred. Lemon-lime soda. So simple. It didn't conflict with what she seen of him like the bubble gum soda did. This made much more sense to her rather logically inclined mind. His last request caught her by surprise though and she glanced away wanting to argue about that not really being fair. Sighing a little she fisted her hands into her skirt and looked positively mortified to be even thinking about telling him something she liked but nodded at the terms of the deal.
"I... like.. um l-lemon tarts." She said after a long stretch of fidgety silence. She glance dup at him and then back down again as her hands continued to wring the fabric of her apron tightly which she'd probably have to iron out later on.

"Lemon tarts, huh." He mused, "Never tried them. Thought you'd like stuff like... uh... what'd they call it... custard puffs?" the viking sat on his bed, rubbing his chin. It sounded about right.
He stood up again shortly after that though, "Anyway. Thanks for the drink. Next time you want to drop by, just drop us a line, will you? Or just tell us flat out. At least you won't look like some thief snooping up on people's rooms like what you just did." he let out a chuckle, mostly because the image didn't suit Sienna.
"Hmm...I'll be heading off now. I was supposed to go to the training room, just came back to put my things away. You ought to get a move on, too. Every day's a busy day for you, isn't it?" with a grin, Joakim turned to walk out, "Don't forget to close the door on your way out."

Sienna glanced to the side a bit at the mention of custard puffs and sighed softly. She liked those too actually. Well she liked baked pastries in general. However other than that one slight head movement and soft exhale she gave no indication otherwise. He'd asked for one thing, not two. And she wasn't in the habit of sharing much about herself as it was. As he continued speaking though she looked somewhat alarmed and surprised. Drop a line? Tell them flat out? She was not capable of either of those and so she didn't respond. She was already awkward with her own teammates in her own room. She couldn't imagine how much worse it would be if she came here.
But then.. she was supposed to be trying to do better so maybe... if she was feeling particularly bold she might take advantage of this hospitality. At least once. She could always leave right? The realization that she'd come off as a thief was disheartening. A real maid would not have been caught she needed to do better. Some serious training was on the way.
Gold eyes flicked back up in his general direction as he stated his departure. She nodded mutely but managed a small smile in return, genuinely thankful that he had caught her and not someone else. She didn't move though until he'd left and finally all the nervous apprehension released it's tight hold on her heart and her knees buckled from beneath her and she flopped to the ground with a decisive thump as her skirts pooled around her. The demure maid listened as his purposeful footsteps vanished slowly into the silence of the empty hallway outside. She glanced around at the room and while she was prepared to leave she wondered if it would be rude to tidy up before she did so...
An hour later she exited and was sure to close the door before she shuffled off with her cart wearing a small, but very satisfied grin as she left a sparkling, clean room in her wake. Shoemaker elves indeed~
