I've been in bed for a full day with a horrible headache and i was dumb enough not to use home remedies-
So for my headache i did a bit of the following:
- Lavender Oil: Its really soothing for headaches AND migraines- You can inhale it or apply it topically. Two to four drops for every two to three cups of boiling water are recommended when inhaling lavender-oil vapors as a headache treatment.
- Scalp Massage: Self Explanatory
- Feverfew: Feverfew relaxes the tension/constrict blood vessels, easing the painful pressure. It also reduces inflammation and pain overall, so get some and whip up some tea and you'll be good!
If you know any other remedies for normal ailments, feel free to post them!
I Usually do Egyptian medicine so i'd love to know what other people do in their cultures/hometowns

Oh you poor dear, I do hope you're feeling better now.
And those are very handy, the next time I'm feeling some head pain I'll be sure to give those a try.
I do know of one particular home remedy for strep throat or just a general sore throat. You just take a minced fresh clove of garlic, a teaspoon of cinnamon and a tablespoon of honey. You mix it all and take that same amount a few times a day for a few days. That along with a strong herbal tea will have you up and running in no time.
You said you know a lot of Egyptian cures, I wonder if the one I mentioned was borrowed from them. They did use honey quite a lot if I remember correctly and were so well versed in such things it wouldn't be a huge surprise if it was derived from there.

Oh man- Honey is really amazing-
I was surprised to find an experiment some months ago done with Honey vs. modern medicine and they tried to heal a wound with honey. They dabbed a wound with honey and another one with Modern Medicine and to their surprise, Honey was able to heal the wound and left little scarring! As for the other one, it did heal it, but the scarring was much more noticeable and it took a little longer.

dude honey is hella awesome. when my brothers and I would get sick, our chinese neighbor next door would mix up some lemongrass tea with a pinch of salt, lemon juice, some slices of ginger, and a teaspoon of honey for us to drink. helped our sore throuats a lot. she was a really sweet lady.
my mother would also make us gargle warm salt water if we ever got sore throats. feels kinda good acutally. I read eucaplytus extract and garlic cloves also help with sinuses, kinda what MrsLayton44 said. apparently the membrane from the eggshell also heals cuts faster? something about protein from the egg itself, but I'm no science genius.
