He'd been seeing new faces lately. More of the new apprentices were being shuffled into their jobs, more birdkeepers, to his delight. Owen still worked shifts mostly solo anyway, so it wasn't like it really made a difference anyway...
He was in the foyer trying to get his papers back from the mailroom staff. He loitered around the counter while he waited.

Prem didn’t have anything to do that day.
No reap order and no guarding mission. Usually he would use this kind of free day to either have some 'me time' or hang out with his friends. For today, he chose the latter. Which was why he was now here in the Mailroom. He had dropped by without notice to visit Antony and had been wandering about for the last ten minutes to look for his friend.
It was silly of him to not tell Antony beforehand about his visiting plans and it didn’t seem like Antony was anywhere in sight. Prem rubbed the back of his neck as he continued to walk around aimlessly. After all, he didn’t really know the layout of this place since Antony was always there to guide him.

Waiting for papers to come back was a boring affair to say the least, so people-watching was always a nice way to pass the time. It didn't take long for Owen to realise there was one person walking the hall back and forth, as if lost. He took another glance at the person over the counter - still busy with something - before moving out to the lobby to greet this lost looking apprentice.
"Hello." He said when he was close enough, stopping, as if he thought the other would stop to chat as well. "Are you lost..?"

Prem did stop in his track and turned to look at whoever was (probably) speaking to him. His eyes looked at the person carefully but he didn't look familiar.
"Hi, I'm looking for Antony...? He's a birdkeeper here," Prem smiled.

Owen seemed to smile with his eyes as he approached them. "I know Antony." One of the newer apprentices who started here. "You know Antony too? Antony isn't here right now..."

"Oh," Prem sounded disappointed that Antony wasn't here. Well, he should've contacted the guy first before actually visiting anyway.
"I'm Prem," the tanned teen extended his hand for a handshake. "Are you Antony's friend?"

Owen looked at the other's hand for a moment, before he too offered his hand. The boy raised a sleeve, white but stained a bit brown from handling birds. Seeing his mistake, he pulled his sleeve back to reveal a hand. It was covered in plasters of bright colours, around fingers and over the back of his hand.
"I'm Owen." He smiled at Prem with his eyes. "I'm Antony's friend." 'Friend' was the easiest thing to say now. Owen didn't know how he felt about the other. Like he always felt about everyone, no matter how old a relationship was.

Prem looked down at Owen's friend as he shook the hand. Noticing the colorful plasters and he chuckled, "Do all bird keepers have hands full of plasters?"

Owen nodded. "We have a lot of different ones." He pulled out his other hand. It too was covered in plasters, only this time one or two of them weren't a blinding neon, but patterned with a cute pastel design of stars and spots. "Everyone likes different ones. Everyone gets hurt differently too."

"Huh," Prem ended the introductory handshake and now he was looking at Owen's plaster-covered hands. "Are these special?" He pointed at the pastel plasters that didn't seem to fit with the other neon ones.

Owen shook his head. "Not really." He raised his hand to his eyes to look at the plasters that were out of place. "These are from a different box. We share boxes. My boxes have these ones." He pointed to the neon blue one on his index finger.

"The other birdkeepers." He smiled with his eyes. "The birdkeepers all have their own bandaids they like. I like bright colours."

Prem made a low hum. Finding the fact that they share band aids very interesting. Wouldn't the stock deplete fast? Who's in charge of restocking? What if someone took your favorite plasters? — Questions came to Prem's mind but he decided that they're way too silly to be asked. "Are you in the middle of work right now? I hope I'm not being a bother," Prem suddenly remembered that it was actually still work hours for some.

Owen nodded. "I'm on my shift, but it's tidy." He shrugged and looked over the counter. The person serving him seemed to be still looking for the papers... Though the stack on the table for him was larger than before. A little longer, maybe.
"What do you do..?" He asked Prem. Owen couldn't work it out just by looking. There weren't any telltale signs anyway.
