Sienna really enjoyed this time of year. People seemed nicer at least and more thoughtful and the shopping people were so much fun to watch. Running back and forth with gifts and bags. She could sit out and watch them for hours really. But the HQ needed decorated so that was where she was, still putting them up. Not that she was alone. Other house staff were doing their part and even volunteers helped out this time of year. For nostalgia's sake or to be nice. or they'd gotten in trouble. Which was what she was waiting on.
Holding two large over-sized boxes she stood in the hall that needed taken care of. Someone was supposed to be meeting her. Some kind of violation or failure to turn paperwork in. She wasn't sure but she'd been told to wait here for them. And so she waited. The boxes could've been set down but this was her own secret training. She needed t get stronger and what better way then a little light lifting. She still needed to find someone to train her properly but for now this would do.

The season of joy and cheer was coming upon the apprentices. The hallways were slowly sprouting branches of holly and long strings of glitter. Walter was usually quite excited about it, it packing up so much fun, not just the kind with wrapping, because much of it involved going to the world of the living finding the snowiest places and watching the big cities turn their lights on in the streets.
However, fun activities that involved going past the chrysanthemum field had been put on the shelf after Halloween. It appeared someone had put him under house arrest for the trouble that had happened, and to insure he was actually punished, strict instructions to hand in paperwork every single day. Just his luck yesterday's report was handled by that stingy guy who hated colours and marked it as inadequate work. So it was with a heightened level of irritation “Christmas decorating volunteer” Walter shuffled on to the hall with the Gothic archway to meet his designated babysitter for the day.
“...instead of exploring – stuck climbing ladders no doubt for some short little...SISI!” having muttered nothing but dark omens for himself along the way until he spotted the familiar face of his newly proclaimed second best friend under the archway, he instantly changed his attitude and made a run for it towards the girl holding the boxes with a big grin on his face and no intention to stop.

Sienna had not noticed Walter until he said her name. Her gold eyes flicked over at the nickname being called and spotted the boy. Oh he looked remarkably better than he'd been the last time she'd seen him. That was her initial thought. The second one being some surprise at this strange level of enthusiasm being directed her way. Was he really happy to see her? It was a weird feeling seeing that joy filled face aimed at her person. The maid was just more used to being ignored. By children especially. She had to assume she looked as dull as a doorknob.
Her last thought was that he was running really fast and had showed no inclination of slowing down. If anything he was accelerating. and while it was nice to be greeted in such a way her hands were much too busy to do any kind of accepting. Oh dear. "Ah um Walter. S-low down." She muttered around her cumbersome load as she bent down to place it on the floor. But not in time to move.

Walter knew Sienna was tidy but was by no means used to her mannerisms of being careful, especially not after what had happened at Halloween, so he jumped the instant she gave a quiet recognition to his presence, expecting her to be more like their colourful friend and just drop her load and catch him instead. He found out the hard way this was not the case.
Sailing into Sienna like a human cannonball his impact brought the sound of crashing glass and ringing bells bouncing against the floor. Christmas decorations were scattered everywhere, some holly leaves had even made it on top of his head. It was a moment of silence as Walter pondered at the disaster around him before addressing the poor housemaid he had landed on.
“Sisi...Why didn't you just drop the box? It's much easier to catch people.”

The inevitable collision was as bad as Sienna had imagined. Decorations went everywhere, a lot of them breakable and a number of them were probably antiques. All gone in an instant of unbridled joy. Ah well, it wasn't like they were hers, mostly they were a collection of decorations others had bought and brought from all parts of the world over the years. While they were precious it was the boy who'd tackled her in his over zealous need to greet her that she was concerned about. Propping herself up on her elbows she smiled shyly at his question and then looked back to the mess and then to him as she moved to sit up completely and began pulling the little bits of holly leaves out of his hair while looking him over for any cuts or obvious wounds.
"Oh well... I w-wanted to set the b-boxes down so I could g-greet your properly." She replied with a shrug of her shoulders. "I'll j-just be faster n-next time." She was remarkably unfrazzled by the mess as she smiled at the boy. "You're not h-hurt are y-you?" She asked just in case she'd missed anything in her initial scrutiny of his person.

He had been oblivious to the holly until she started pulling them off him. Having her do that with such a gentle touch, it made him feel...younger. Not the favourite feeling of someone who was already a small person, it left him with this strange sensation of having done it before too many times before. To get rid of the feeling he put a hand up to ruffle his hair free of any other things that might be in it, making it even more of a mess than it already was.
With a voice that was without an ounce of regret for whatever damage he had caused he simply stated “Nah, bumping into people doesn't hurt.” as he spent no energy on finesse or calculating where he put his arms as long as his feet got put firmly on the floor so he could get off her. He bloody hated the feeling the older people gave him when they treated him like a helpless child.
Crack. The sound of the already broken ornament being stepped on made Walter stop up and gaze around. Shifting from one leg to another his expression changed away from the slightly annoyed child as he looked over the destruction he had caused. “Were these all...yours?” Placing a slight pause before the last word he squinted his eyes.

Sienna glanced to the broken ornaments as Walter seemed a touch guilty about them but she shook her head and smiled a little. "It's fine t-they're not m-mine I was just p-putting them up is a-all." She replied with a reassuring nod.
But now this mess would need to be cleaned up so she stood and glanced around at the area a moment before spotting a nearby closet which thankfully housed some cleaning supplies. "I um n-need to clean this u-up but um d-did you need something?" She asked looking his way. He had come running over after all. If he needed her for something she could clean the mess up and postpone the decorating. She liked the boy really, but she was so boring and she hated to waste his time when it could've been spent doing something fun.

A sigh of relief escaped him when she smiled. She was taking the while thing very well. It wouldn't have been a nice to break her things when she was such a nice person, hiding her stuff together with Maxwell as a prank maybe, but not properly destroying them. His smile returned as she fished out the cleaning supplies from the closet. “Yeah, I am supposed to do Christmas decorations today.”
The earlier remorse was erased from his face as he idly swayed his arms at his side. “I thought it was going to be someone boring I had to work with, but it was you!” The child could clearly not be still or have the attention span for more than one emotion at a time, like some Peter Pan fairy, cheerfully chiming a “Do you do this every Christmas?” instead of offering to help clean up the mess he made.

Oh, Walter was here to help with the decorations? That was sweet of him, but she was sure he'd probably rather be doing something more fun. She continued to clean up the mess as he asked a few questions. It seemed he was being ordered to do this which made her feel bad, She never had the heart to force those who got in trouble to work under her. And save for Owen's help occasionally she did these jobs herself.
"Oh well... I help every y-year, yes." She replied with a nod as she halted sweeping for a moment. "Um but.... y-you don't have to s-stay and help if you d-don't want to. I'm sure you'd m-much rather have f-fun somewhere else." She couldn't imagine he'd want to stick around to help. Not that she though badly of him of course. She actually liked the boy. She just wished she was more interesting to him. "Ah um only if you don't w-wanna stay and help, I m-mean."

Walter was surprised by her level of commitment. He hadn't pinned someone Maxwell mentioned that often as a person that was like the spirit of Christmas, doing this every year so that everyone else could feel the spirit too, or in his and Maxwell's case, run off with the prettiest and most interesting objects to make their own little hideaway even more sparkly during the season.
“I haven't tried putting up the decorations before.” The answer was lax for someone swinging their arms around, but Walter was only half paying attention to what was going on. His mind was busy trying to make sense of Sisi. She wasn't at all as energetic as Maxwell had made her out to be, not to mention less angry about the mess than anyone he had ever met. It was not much left of that fighting spirit he had expected, it wasn't like his best friend where the energy was fed into an endless sugar-coated rainbow void which came right back at you.
Clearly spending a lot of energy was not working with his new friend, meaning he'd have to try another way to get along with her. Offering her a smile, he squatted down to her eye level adding a slight tilt to his head. “It must be fun since you do it so often. I want to try too.”

Sienna had by now cleaned up the mess, depositing the smaller and larger pieces into a box. And with that done she could now give Walter the bulk of her attention. She was surprised to hear he'd never helped decorate before. Which was kind of sad to her at least. But she smiled warmly when he expressed a desire to try it out.
"Well then t-today you'll get the c-chance." She replied and walked over to a box. "Putting the decorations up... it h-helps get everyone in the m-mood. Seeing the colors and the lights c-can be just as important as o-opening gifts. It's all about t-the atmosphere." While she wasn't the most excitable person her tone did carry some joy as she spoke and her eyes brightened up a bit. it was obvious that this was something important to her.
But what to decorate. Oh! Smiling she patted the box. "How do y-you feel about hanging some m-mistletoe? It's a v-very important decoration." It would also give him a chance to take part in the more daring aspects of this job. Climbing the ladder and balancing in high places precariously. he seemed like he might enjoy it.

Walters face carried a light smile as she talked, that was until she mentioned the word mistletoe. The smile widened as a mischievous glimmer played in his eyes, and he spoke out in a voice that was quite unable to contain his excitement. It was almost a little too happy for something so simple. “Oh, yes, placing the mistletoe is a great idea.”
With his excitement practically bubbling in the air around him the little boy suddenly seemed to realize something looking at the poor maid still cleaning up the collateral damage. “Do you want some help with that? Maybe I should take a box...”
--------------- ((I should rename myself slowking...very sorry for the amount of time I have taken to reply to this, I feel like I'm almost making him bipolar with his reactions from the difference in the mood when I reply.))

Sienna smiled at his excitement, happy to have offered him a job he could enjoy. With that decided she began setting up the bouquets of the seasonal plant when the boy asked to help her with cleaning up the mess from earlier. "Ah no, i-it's fine." A hand full of mistletoe extended to him as she nodded. "Use the ladder. Don't w-worry I'll k-keep if in place.
((No worries, I've been a bit slow myself xD And most kids are prone to mood swings. ouo ))

Walters face quickly broke into a big grin and he practically yanked the mistletoe away from Sienna and shot up the ladder like a squirrel up a tree.
“Do you want it higher than that? This is right, right?” Balancing on his toes at the top step of the ladder the mistletoe was way above the doorway, and he was ignoring the ribbons it was supposed to hang from, making the mistletoe almost invisible to anyone whom might be coming from the other side of the doorway. “...You forgot to give me something to stick it in the wall with.”

Sienna smiled in a way that seemed she was used to this sort of behavior, which she was so there was no upset tone to her voice as she spoke to him.
"It's... s-supposed to be... w-with the ribbon." She pointed out with a soft laugh. "N-no one will see it up there. W-well, not unless it's s-someone who's planning to c-catch someone... b-by surprise." She added with a nod and gestured to the ribbon once more. She'd rather he put it there, but if he could creatively place it where he wanted she wouldn't undo his work. She'd trusted him to put it up so she'd trust his decision, even if it was a little nefarious. She was getting used to that kind of thing, besides, she knew where they all were and would be in no danger of the traditional plants and thus avoiding any unnecessary kissing of which she had little desire to engage in.
