Setting: The nighttime air has a slight chill to is as fall approached. People wore light jackets and vests to help protect themselves from the small gusts of chill wind but the fairground was packed so most people didn't even notice the drop in temperature.
The fall fairgound was a sight to behold packed with venders, rides, and games. There were water gun races, catching the fish, shoot to get the prize, etc. The rides had the traditional Ferris wheel to a teacup ride even bumper carts! Games were everywhere and the prizes ranged from cute stuffed animals to the latest I-pod. It was huge and it was meant for all.
Penelope walked around the fairgrounds with a funnel cake in hand chewing on it occassionally. Man, she hadn't been to the fair ground since what... that play thing? Freaking thing made her relapse. Penelope sucks her teeth and shakes her brown wig. She'd gone with a long one that reached to her back and had auburn streaks in it, a sweetheart tube top and skinny jeans. She needed to win another fish for her buddy back home. She stops at the catch a fish booth and finishes her funnel cake. Time to put these muscles to work!

Sienna was out of the HQ. At night. The horrifying ordeal at the last event she'd attended was still quite fresh in her mind. But she needed to move past that. And nothing said moving on like heading out into the living world alone and at night. Of course she'd chosen a crowded place to do this. She always felt more at home when surrounded by people, even if they didn't notice her much.
Bundled up in her usual attire with an additional scarf and boots in place of her shoes she walked listlessly into the crowd. She was still very much not ready for this outing but she needed to prove she could do this so here she was. Standing in front of a game stand she looked to the cute plush creatures with a longing sigh. She'd love to win one but she wasn't so good at these sorts of things. Her aim wasn't bad, it was her nerves. But she walked up to the man running it and offered him her money and then grabbed the small balls she'd need to throw to win as she stared up at the daunting task and the solid glass bottles. How was she supposed to win this game? How unLayton of her, entering an agreement she'd never have a chance of winning.

Wrapping his scarf closer to himself Alim let out a small breath. Watching as the air turned to smoke due to how chilly it was this evening he calmly took steps forward as he started walking along with the other people in the fairground. Granted this was probably a bad idea, being out in the evening with no ties to either factions, but the constant hiding was...annoying. Why is it that he has to be indoors, hidden from everyone in order to have the freedom he wants? Maybe just for tonight it would be alright to simply enjoy himself.
Placing his hands inside the pockets of his coat he sighed and moved out of people's way whenever he was about to bump into someone. If people were to see him they'd simply see another man that was due for a shave, most of it hidden by his scarf . With his sandy coat on and a dark long sleeve under it, as well as comfortable jeans and boots Alim practically blended in with the crowd...of course, there was always that daunting scar over his eye. Pretty much the only thing that stands out from him, but he doesn't let that bother him.
As he kept on walking he observed the game stalls, earrings jingling softly as he looked to the side when he noticed the fish game. ~Ah, I should probably get some fish treats for Nina and Bastet~ was the random thought going through his head as he looked at the fish swimming around their bowls. In fact, he should go get his cats some sweaters as well for the holidays, that would be cute. Still looking around the man paused as he noticed a familiar apprentice girl as she ogled the cute stuffed animals in a stall. Smiling he made his way towards her, which made him miss someone else in the fish stall was also threadless...
"They're pretty cute, aren't they?" he asked, trying to get her attention as he smiled down at Sienna while standing next to her.

Ah, what a rush. Kit had only come for the rides, to be honest. They were just coming off of a towering ride, the kind that raised people high into the sky and then sent them plummeting back down to the earth. It made them feel alive, hearing the pounding of their heart in their ears and the cold air burning their lungs with each heavy breath. It was a good thing that they hadn't eaten anything prior to their marathon of riding the metal death traps, as any food they had would probably have already made a reappearance.
Taking a few deep breaths and adjusting their scarf over their neck and face, they decided to take a little break and walk around a bit. They were likely as pale as a ghost, and they felt pretty lightheaded, so a break was definitely in order. Maybe they'd try and win a stuffed animal or something, or buy something to drink from one of the vendors. Their thoughts were halted, however, when they spotted someone whom was... vaguely familiar. A woman standing at a goldfish-catching game. They slowed to a stop, focusing on her for a moment to look for a thread-- nope. Well, that must have been why. They weren't the only apprentice there, which wasn't that surprising. Instead of going and greeting her, however, they sort of just spaced out and stared. Maybe they were curious as to whether or not she could get a fish. Or maybe they were just landing from their adrenaline high and had ceased to function. Probably both.

It had been awhile since Robin had found themselves in the world of the living. Recent events and past memories of injuries made it hard for them to wanna take the step outside no matter how badly they wanted to buy a new comic book or find some new clothing. It was only when they heard about a fairgrounds being open and realizing how it would be much more crowded and noisy compared to the emptiness of their room that they decided to take the leap into the living world.
Compared to the rest of the area, the fairgrounds seemed so..alive. Crowds of people, the noises of people screaming and talking…the sounds of music. Robin couldn’t help but smile at it all.
The chill didn’t bother Robin much, although that could be partly due to the fact they had bundled themselves up in a dark brown jacket that matched the long pants and shoes they were wearing. So Robin would put their hands in their pockets, humming slightly as they walked among the dim and beautiful lights of the fairgrounds.
The only problem Robin had was that there was so much to do! There were rides….games…food. Robin had always been curious about these sorts of places…there were rumors among the newsboys about a place called Luna Park on Coney Island that seemed to be the happiest place on earth, but Robin was never able to go there while they were alive. They did go there once, but unfortunately by then it had been burned down to the ground. But no matter, they have the opportunity to enjoy what is before them so why dwell on things that are long gone?
It wasn’t long until Robin found themselves eating a pink cloud of cotton candy on a stick, walking along until they spotted the hair that looked similar to the thing they were eating. Oh, it was Kit! Robin would walk over to the apprentice with a quick hop to their step. They would have said hello right away, but the other seemed rather distant, staring at someone playing a game where you could win a fish. Huh. So instead, Robin would wait a bit, munching on the cotton candy in their hand before turning to Kit. “Hey Kit, I didn’t know you were gonna be here,” they would start, keeping their voice more calm as to not scare their friend, “I would have asked if you wanted to join me....are you enjoying yourself so far?”

"Step right up! step right up! Catch a fish, Win it as a prize!" The owner of the booth yells to get attention. He spots Penelope and ushers her over with enthusiasm. "Step right up little lady and win a fish! Just 2 bucks to try!" He gives a kind smile but his eyes say that he's up to no good.
Penelope doesn't trust the man but, by gosh, she wanted that fish! With a nod she pays him two dollars and takes a flimsy looking net and stares at the fish in the water. No.. no... no... Red and white one! Perfect!
She bends down with focus, her eyes following the fish as it makes it's way around swimming with the other fish. Wait for it... 1 2 3 -SNATCH!-
Penelope flung it out of the water with success. Too much success it seems, she used too much power in that catch and the fish went flying, right into the pink hair of a person nearby. OOPS.

Sienna looked startled as she whirled around to see who had spoken. But upon seeing it was Alim she relaxed a bit. he wasn't an apprentice but he'd only ever been kind to her so she didn't feel the need to scurry off or be too defensive. "Ah Alim h-hello." she greeted softly her hands currently occupied with the balls she'd need to play fumbled with their load a bit.
"I am trying to w-win." She explained and gestured to the stalwart looking bottles across the way. That said she held one in her hand apart from its kin, pulled her arm back and let it fly forward with all she could muster.
It hit the target dead on, but there was no strength behind it so it fell harmless to the ground while the bottle remained cool, vigilant and standing. The small off duty maid let out a harumph of dissatisfaction. She was going to get any thing this way at all. Her wimpy little arms left much to be desired.

After standing there unmoving for far too long, Kit was snapped out of it by a familiar voice. They blinked a few times, then turned to look at Robin with a friendly expression that was still just a bit dazed. "Oh, hey." They smiled at them, genuinely glad to see them. They didn't have a whole lot of friends, so seeing the few that they had was nice. "I didn't actually plan on coming, but I dunno... haven't been on a roller coaster in awhile. It's weird, I like them more now than I did as a human." It wasn't really that weird, but they were making light conversation, not getting into the depths of their new mindset. "So, yeah, I'm having fun. What about y-"
Something very strange happened then. It definitely wasn't raining, and yet, something wet landed on Kit's head. It was strangely heavy, definitely something solid. They sort of just froze for a moment, then moved their hand up slowly to see what was there. And when they did, it MOVED. Without saying anything, they cocked their head forward, dropping the thing into their hand... it was a fish. A desperate little goldfish that'd been launched into their hair. They weren't really calm at all, but they managed to hold in any outbursts, running over to the booth that the fish belonged to and putting it back into the water. They were actually more worried about the fish than they were about their hair, watching it in the water for a few seconds and sighing when it started swimming around again. "Jeez... You could've killed it." They wiped their hands on their pants, seeming more alert. Well, at least one good thing came of it.
