+A Wolfe Amoung Us+
Setting: Somewhere in New York City: Down a flight of steps and behind a nondescript townhouse door you'll find the underground Jazz bar humorously named The Smart Virgin. The bar is dimly lit but warm and inviting - vintage lanterns hang from the exposed brick walls, with dark wood floors and ceiling, a long copper bar, and a black velvet curtain guarding the entrance. The SV is busier than usual with all of the tables taken leaving only the bar space open. The air is filled with pleasant conversation and the soft clinking of silverware against plates.
A young woman sits alone at the bar with a cocktail in hand, taking subtle sips as she flips through her phone. This alone would not be unusual except... she's dead.
She sits with green polka-dot shirt, green skirt and navy shoes. Penelope takes another brief sip from her cocktail and frowns deeply as she puts down the drink again. The drink was fine it was the e-mail she was reading that made her pause. It was the entire reason she was even here right now, following a tip she'd been given. Her eyes scan over the e-mail for what must be the tenth time.
This man is a danger to our cause. He has killed another one of our kind and is deemed a threat.
ELIMINATE HIM IMMEDIATELY
Penelope took another long sip of her drink (she didn't even remember picking it up), sighing deeply, while looking at the CC list. The message went out to all of the Hunters under Clement's orders and for the last week they've been tracking this guy down. He'd killed not only apprentices but humans and Hunters too. The man was a HUMAN serial killer, they all knew this, but they'd recruited him anyway since he had a high Spiritual Awareness. She'd met him once, he had smelled her hair. It took all she had not to snap his sleazy neck right then and there.
'Knew I should've killed him before now. The man was a threat.'
Penelope put her phone down on the copper bar with a 'thunk'. She wasn't here to get drunk, gain courage, none of that, it was to set things right.
"I REALLY SHOULD HAVE KILLED HIM.'

Ah yes, the mortal realm at night.
In Heng's day, the night was a time of quiet. Who was willing to waste precious candlelight (or whatever the ancient Chinese equivalent was) to burn longer than they needed them for? Say for the rich, but that wasn't Heng, so he spent his youth sleeping through the darkness, or catching fireflies.
Nights in the modern mortal realm were loud. Very busy. Did no one sleep?
When he was an adult, nights were spent fighting, waiting to carry out an ambush, with a knife by your pillow, or drinking. Drinking was the only fun option.
After dying, Heng seldom went out to drink. As small wine huts built up to lavish establishments or grungy bars, Heng found himself losing interest in the social drinking scene, then just stopped going at all.
Which brings us to why he was here. At this uh, delightfully named establishment for the social drinking scene, wearing a leather jacket and... jeans. Heng didn't like jeans.
(He was going to just wear casual clothing, but Sen caught him on his way out, with such a look of disgust that Heng felt guilty. So he complied with Sen's aggressive fashion advice).
The reason this old man was hobbling to a bar was because he heard that they served authentic Chinese white wine. Right from China. Old stuff.
Heng sighed, hands in his pockets, standing in front of an unassuming door in the dark. Heng almost thought that he had been standing outside of the wrong door for a while, but in the silence outside, the music inside (something upbeat) was noticeable (though soft), were still noticeable. Blowing out a long, foggy breath, Heng pushed open the doors to the bar, coughing as he was hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. Wonderful.
He made his way to the actual bar part of the bar, taking a seat. He ordered without much problem, and looked around him. Not that he could see much it was really dim and his head hurt a little.

Penelope didn't mind the music or the atmosphere because she was too occupied with her thoughts to care. Rubbing her temples in a soothing fashion she asks the bartender for another drink. He acknowledges her request with a nod taking off to fix a new one.
The jazz band playing on stage finishes their song with a flourish making the patrons applaud in awe. Penelope watches them bow in gratitude then take a few seconds to talk amongst themselves (probably to agree on their next number); seemly an agreement was made because the violinist and saxophonist started then seconds later the rest of the band joined in - Feeling Good? What an odd choice...
Penelope was so focused on the performance that when the bartender returned putting a drink down on the bar she instinctively reached for it not noticing, initially, the man who had taken a seat beside her was reaching for the same drink as well.

Heng didn't recognize any of the music playing, of course. It wasn't much his style anyways. He really just wanted a drink and then go back to headquarters.
When the bartender was done, Heng reached over to take his drink.
Oop, why did his hand touch someone else's?
"Uh.... excuse me," he said, turning to look at the other who was reaching for his drink. He smiled, giving them a nod. "I believe that I ordered this drink here, unless there was a mix up?"

Penelope snatched her hand back quickly when the man touched her. "Ah no, I'm sorry." Penelope said slightly flustered. "I don't think so but I think the one that I ordered is-" The bartender puts her cocktail down on the coaster in front of her. "Right here." She chuckles softly. "Sorry about that." Penelope raises her glass a bit to him. "Cheers." She takes a steady sip before putting the drink down and humming to the music. She'd always liked this song.

Heng chuckled, that thing he does where he blows air out of his nose, and smiled.
" 'Tis no problem," he replied, sliding his drink over, then raising it for the cheers that was just initiated by the stranger. He took a whiff, nodding in appraisal, before downing it in one go. It burned so good.

A few minutes tick by before Penelope looks at the clock above the bar. It was about that time. Taking a swig of her cocktail before turning her attention to the main part of the bar Penelope starts to focus on the people around her. Slowly the glimmers of light start coming into focus turning into white threads with the purpose of getting a head count.
'15... 20... 25... 27...'
The tip she'd gotten was reliable. They stressed to her that this was Haile's favorite place to stalk for victims due to the fact that The Smart Virgin was an underground bar, thus less likely to be associated with any murders due to its elusiveness. Probably attributing to the reason why they were still packed even now.
'28' Penelope continues to count as she turns back to the bar now counting the bartenders. '29...30...?' Penelope's counting falls short as her eyes fall on the man next to her. She focuses harder. Nothing.
Penelope starts to speak. "Excuse me, are you-"
*Bump*
Penelope is roughly pushed aside as a human, obviously drunk off his arse, knocks her aside in his attempt to get to the bar. Penelope totters to the side as she makes a grab for the copper bar, she fails and is knocked out of her seat and bumps right against the man in the leather jacket.
"Oof!"

Heng sat for a while longer, eyes closed, listening to the music.
It wasn't the same kind of atmosphere as what he was accustomed to for drinking (of course it wasn't. It's good that it wasn't after a battle with blood still dry on their clothes, with less people than the drank with the night before), but it was a nice change of pace.
And what was nicer still was that it was a short lived one. He stood, pushing his chair back, and right at this moment the person who was sitting beside of him ran right into him.
"En," he grunted, taking a step back from the impact (well, more of the surprise of the impact that the impact itself). He held his hands out to steady the other, pushing them back upright gently.
"Are you alright?" he asked. He looked down at her and.. oh. Threadless.

"I-I'm fine." She laughs nervously as he helps her get upright. "Ouch!" Penelope's shoe was caught in the chair legs forcing her foot in an awkward angle. "Dang it all." She struggles to get her foot untangled from the chair. Who the heck thought spiral legs for a bar chair was a good idea??

Heng stepped back, waiting for the lady to untangle herself from her chair predicament, couldn't helping but chuckle lightly as he watched.
"Are you alright?" he asked again, gently pushing another tipsy person away from bumping into them.
He focused a bit over her head, and indeed she was Threadless. What a coincidence.

Penelope scoffs at her predicament as she, finally, untangled her foot from the bar chair. "Sorry about bumping into you like that." She says adjusting her green pencil skirt sparing swift glances at the man. No more drinking for her tonight. "I couldn't help but notice that you're well, for a lack of a better word... dead, so are you here to get away from HQ for a while?" Penelope asks while making sure that she's not in danger of being plowed over again before taking a seat back at the bar.

When the lady freed herself from the chair, Heng just stood by the counter, awkwardly half leaning against it as she sat down. He can't leave now that she's initiated a conversation with him. Ah well. Some socialization is good, especially for an old man like Heng.
"I'm here because they have real Chinese White Wine," Heng smiled. "They lived up to their word."

"Chinese white wine? I can't say I've heard of it however from the way it sounds I can assume it's a rather strong liquor." Penelope pushes the hair of her wig over shoulder then brushes the bangs out of her eyes. She'd gone with a long wig this time having it reaching mid back. Her accent was different as well, she'd been using it since she'd started speaking. "I'm glad it lived up to its reputation," She grins at him. "because you've been smiling for a while." Penelope leans against bit on the bar as she observes.
'The songs changed again and three people just left. Keep talking it helps to look natural.'

Heng chuckles, nodding.
"The same can be said for you. Er, not that I was ... 'Tis good to see people enjoying themselves in general," Heng awkwardly gestured to everyone around him. To be honest quite a few of them didn't look like they were enjoying themselves at all but it's fine. Nice save Heng.
"A respite from Head Quarters is good for the mind sometimes. Just to take some time to catch up with yourself," he continued.

Penelope taps the top of the copper bar in agreement. "My thoughts exactly! Which is why," She pats the chair beside her and offers a friendly smile. "It's nice to have the company of someone who also understands. So come, eat with me if that won't be too much trouble."
