Where Heng continues to have no sense of modern fashion, and Sen is determined to educate this old man.
Heng doesn't quite recall how he wound up agreeing to depart Headquarters on a Saturday afternoon to go to New York City of all places. It was a flurry of randomly bumping into the Apprentice he vaguely knew as Sen, and Sen's gradual frown each time he saw Heng wearing casual clothing.
Heng did prefer to wear hanfu, but Heng also liked simplicity, which is why despite knowing that he had no real sense of fashion, he still paraded around Headquarters wearing tshirts that boldly displayed incorrect english paired up with a funky cartoon character that was clearly a rip off of a much more well established one (aka the real chinese street fashion).
On one day (today), Heng was wearing what was apparently a particularly bad tshirt. Not even his biceps could make up for this one. Even he knew that it probably was a mistake to wear (where did he get it from anyways?), but he figured that it'd be fine. The other Apprentices have probably seen worse in their life and deathtimes.
And he was fine, that is until he somehow met up again with the shorter Apprentice.

Ugh. What an eyesore! Sen could no longer continue to stand idly by while this living fossil paraded around in the worst fashions he'd seen. Maybe had he been a bit more creative or something he might have been less demanding. But his skillful eyes could not handle it a moment longer. He'd walked right up to him, told him they were going on a trip and that was that. he wasn't taking no for an answer. His wardrobe was a crime on humanity. To think some poor souls might have witnessed his state of dress before dying. The pain was too much.
New York was perfect for this guy. He'd find him something rad while still sticking tot his... odd dress code he had, minus the bad English and hideous cartoon rip offs. Like who was making this crap anyhow? He didn't ask where he got his clothes. Would anyone ask where you picked up trash? No and in this instance those were the same.
Finally after a brisk walk full of purpose they stood before some rather snazzy looking clothing stores on one of the nicer new York strips. "Perfect. Let's get you in here and find you something suitable pal." The young fashion designer considered the cyclops his biggest challenge. "Alright so if you have any favorite colors or ones you hate let me know now so I can factor that into my list of needs and wants." He didn't trust his fashion sense on anything past that and even his choice in color would be scrutinized.

Heng was honestly still trying to figure out why he agreed to this. He could be drinking tea right now.
"Mr Sen 'tis alright truly, there's no need for you to go to such lengths...." he trailed off when it became obvious that there was no talking his way out anymore. With a resigned sigh, Heng followed along after Sen closely through the crowds of New York, until they stopped at the first store in a very long chain of similar looking clothing stores.
Wait no, they were uh, 'high end fashion boutiques', which was a mouthful that Heng was never going to say.
"I do not like very bright colours. Like.. neon. I er, like what you would call, muted colours?" Heng answered, looking down over at his um. His companion.

"Please. don't flatter yourself Cyclops. I ain't doing this for you. I'm doing this for me. And for the women of the world, living or dead who have to lay eyes on that abhorrent attire of yours." Sen did not want people thinking this was out of kindness or some weird fondness for the tall, stoic meat head. He wasn't much for conversation. But he was definitely better than listening to someone stupid prattle on.
"No bright colors, no neons. More muted colors." He repeated parts back as he eyed the man up and down before continuing with his own string of mental notes. "Probably good with dark, earthy tones a pop of color won't kill you. Something low key, comfy and breathable. We'll find you some correct English to adorn your torso preferably. Maybe we can find you a nice eye patch." With his game plan set he opened the door and strolled in like he owned the place. And had he not died he might very well have done just that in the future.

Heng frowned.
"My eyepatch is nice. It has a chrysanthemum embroidered on it," he muttered, following Sen inside. It was very bright, lit by white lights that made all the white display racks and cases and what not glow. A beautiful crystal chandelier hung from the centre of the ceiling, adding even more light to the.... Heng squinted, looking down at the ground only to find that the tiles were also white so really looking at anything in the store was pain.
When his eye finally adjusted, he slowly looked back up, brushing his hair behind his ear. It was a very nice looking store, and Heng felt very out of place. This wasn't a place suitable for a peasant like he, not even after he became a Captain. He suddenly felt like he was tracking dirt everywhere, and turned around to check. Nope, no dirt. Why did they make their floor tiling white.

Sen was used to this kind of decor. He'd lived and worked in it. This was home for him, surrounded by clothes and glamorous designs as far as the eye could see. He was visibly more relaxed as they walked along. "It never hurts to have an extra on hand to mix and match with other outfits." He commented idly, waving his concerns away with a flick of his wrist. He meandered around before finally coming into the performance wear. Stylish and trendy but not too out of this guys element. Glancing back to Heng he eyed him up and down, gauging his stature with his height and weight just by looking at him.
With his measurements roughly assessed he grabbed a few pants, some tops and jackets and handed them to him. "Try 'em on." he said gesturing to the dressing room though he was sure they'd fit, he just wanted to be sure they'd be suitable. He was on a mission here and very focused. Although if Heng had been a babe or any kind of female really he'd have been a completely different person. But he was a dude and thus the fashion enthusiast was anything but congenial. As he tried the articles on he scoured the t-shirts and once he came back out he'd hand those off.

Heng was struggling. Was there a particular order in which he was to try on outfits? The materials seemed.. flimsy. And too luxurious. Was this practical clothing? Worst of all the clothes looked incredibly similar to clothes he could find at much cheaper stores. What was the difference really? He peeked out of the dressing room, scanning the store for Sen. He couldn't find Sen. He sighed and ducked back into the change room. Heng held up the first item off the top of the pile, and hung it up. He shrugged off his tshirt, and promptly changed into the other. It uh... fit. Maybe? Are they supposed to be tight? Heng felt a bit self conscious now, surprisingly. Going around shirtless was one thing, but wearing a shirt that hugged.. everything so tightly was er, another thing completely. "..Sen?" he called again, poking his head out. ---------------------------- I have no idea what the clothes look like . We should exchange pictures pfft

Sen eyed the shirts he was looking at and spotted Heng who was looking terribly out of place. Hm, maybe this place was a bit too ritzy for him? The shirt and slacks combo didn't look bad but he looked like he thought he was naked or something. Apparently he'd need to go much more relaxed. he'd assumed his stiff demeanor meant he'd prefer something more rigid. Mistake number one.
"I'm here." He called back as he walked out into the open. He was short so some of the racks of clothing were obscuring him somewhat. "And it looks like you might be better suited for some less proper clothing and something more rustic." The clothes had would be left someplace, he wasn't going to waste time putting it away, this place had employees for a reason. "Come on, put back on what you had, we'll hit someplace else." In the end he supposed he could design something for him. But that was only if he couldn't find anything else. he couldn't keep seeing this guy walking about dressed like a blind man with no assistance.

Heng did as told, sheepishly leaving the pile of clothes behind as he followed after Sen.
"I am... er, sorry about bothering you like this," he said, as if it was he who asked for Sen's assistance. "I see how this troubles you..." he looked to the side, then back. He honestly didn't even know why Sen was bothering. It wasn't like they were friends, or particularly close. To even say that they were acquaintances is somewhat of a stretch.
Heng followed along wordlessly for a moment, before looking to Sen again.
"Do you uh.. do this often?" he asked, gesturing to his god awful tshirt, then to the busy New York street.

Sen rolled his eyes in exasperation at Heng's comment. "I'm pretty sure I explained this already cyclops. I am doing this for me. Well... me and any women who have to see you slogging around dressed like an utter wretch. I've seen homeless guys with more fashion sense than you." He huffed indignantly at the end and hadn't planned on saying anymore until another question was asked.
"Yeah I do actually, I was an up and coming fashion designer when I get ran over. Did I mention the car was full of babes? I had the best view a dying man could ask for. But that aside I know what I'm talkin' about here. And this place isn't far from where I used to live and work." He was currently taking him to another fashion store, much less modern and more back woodsy with a hipster flair. Hopefully this style might appeal to him more.

"C-cyclops?" Heng stammered, making a face. That was... different. He ran his hand through his hair, blinking. After that he stayed silent, listening to Sen talk. He was a new Apprentice then. Like Lee in that aspect, though their personalities were radically different. Maybe not about the usage of the word 'babes'. Hm.
"This city suits you," Heng said decidedly as they walked into another store, this time thankfully not lit up by rows and rows of powerful white lights. Instead it was dim, warm and yellow, and smelled of wood. Heng took a breath. Wood and that sterile clothes store smell. He nodded. This was less intimidating.
He chuckled when he walked past a small display of those thick, black framed glasses with no lens.
"How quaint," he smiled, putting the glasses down and picking up a pendant with an owl on it.

Usually people got mad at nicknames. Got all upset and stuff. This guy seemed.. flustered? What kind of response was that? Shaking it off he led the way to their next destination. The comment about the city suiting him was met with an odd look. "Hm well yeah, you could say that." He muttered back looking and sounding disinterested. His cold, aloof demeanor was anything but friendly and he didn't care what the man thought. It was a good thing he was being so willing though if not he might have had to dispose of his wardrobe..... if he had one. As they entered his tall, strange client seemed much more at ease so he assumed he was on the right track. He wandered over to the accessories and he went to work finding some more low-key outfits. He grabbed one shirt and a pair of jeans before coming back and handing it to him. "Try these and then let me know." He stated plainly. ________________________________________________ I was gonna scribble Heng outfits but my sister took the tablet with her to college this week so no arts, you get images instead xD Shirt ref, jeans are just jeans so didn't bother xD

Heng took the shirt and jeans, holding them up to look them over. They were... plainer than he had expected. But in a good way. "Alright," he said, turning to go to the change rooms. He stopped by the small pile of fake glasses again, picking on up. After a moment he put it back down, then actually went to change. -------- Oh that's a nice sweater~ as long as they're skinny jeans ; )

Sen watched impassively as the guy took the items and stopped to play with the fake glasses again. He wondered if he realized the irony of wanting to wear them when he only had one eye. A monocle would make more sense. But he said nothing else and instead found a couple ladies nearby to leer at. That was one nice thing about them not noticing him much. No one could tell him to stop what they didn't realize was happening and he was free to stare and oggle to his lecherous little hearts desire. He was never rude with it anyway and honestly treated it much like one would eye a nice sports car or a well made dish. Who didn't like a little positive reinforcement? After a while though eh made his way back to the dressing room area so he could be sure the backwoods samurai hadn't gotten lost. Yeesh. For a guy who'd obviously been here for centuries collecting dust he didn't seem to have a freakin clue. Just imagining having to live out his days as a brainwashed solider was nauseating. he just grabbed some basic straight legged ones so hopefully he's fine with that for now xDDDD

These clothes were much more comfortable, Heng turned, craning his neck to see the back through the mirror. They had an earthy feel. He still didn't really see why this was considered fashionable.
Hanfu were much nicer. Perhaps he could procure a few outfits and have Sen try them on. Hanfu suit everyone.
When he finished, he walked out of the change room, looking for Sen. He had a feeling that Sen was of the nature to get distracted by er... something, and abandon him halfway through. Instead, he found Sen parked outside the change rooms, pulling an odd face. A scowl?
"Has something upset you?"
