Has anyone here read any books that they'd recommend? I don't know what to read anymore, so suggestions or opinions on books you've read in the past would be welcome. You can say you hated a book, too, I guess. As long as it's about a book you've heard of or read, it's fine. My recommended books: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

I'd recommend Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth. It's a bit of a lengthy read but interesting. Scott Westerfeld also has a couple series of books you may be interested in. My personal favorite is the Leviathan series. One of my personal favorites is Villian by Shuichi Yoshida.
Good luck on your book search.

I am quite a fan of historical fiction and fiction novels. However, I am easily pleased by any genre. That being said, I highly recommend the following!
- Mara, Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis McGraw (Very lovely historical fiction about Egypt. The scenery is so vivid. It was a taste of what it must've been like that I thoroughly enjoyed.)
- All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (A gorgeous piece that is set in France in 1944. It's about a 16-year-old blind French girl and a 17-year-old German soldier and is beautifully written.)
- If anyone likes fantasy, I highly recommend The Emperor's Soul by Brandon Sanderson. It is a novella that has the most intricate and fascinating magic system, and it is more Asian-inspired than most other fantasy novels, which makes it so fresh. The characters are also quite compelling. Give it a whirl.

I heard lots of Jr. High kids talking about a particular book at a cafe and decided to give it a try.
Its a very small book but the content is really amazing- you should give it a try if you want to have a quick read.

K E N O A N T H I S I
"TH1RTEEN R3ASONS WHY"Written by Jay Asher
A story of circumstance and regret. Following the narrative of Hannah Baker and her thirteen reasons "why", a bakers dozen if you will. It leaves you curious and unable to put the book down while taking you on an intense roller coaster of feelings. If you're triggered by anything related to suicide, this might not be the book for you. Let me tell you guys though, it was amazing. And really cleverly written with very clever use of technology we have long since forgotten. It's worth a read, and once you start, you won't put it down till you finish it."READY PLAYER ONE"Written by Ernest Clime
A story filled with nostalgia, reference, and social commentary. It's set in the future when the search for the ultimate golden ticket is sent out and thrusts the world back into the 80's with a vengeance. Video games, movies, styles, everything you love about the golden age of the 80's all in one book, as well as a level of current time social commentary. It's an amazing book and seriously hard to put down. It follows the sass of Wade Watts, the name alone tells you everything.
