Pfft. The seeds went everywhere as Owen pulled out grabbed a seedy handful of them and offered it to Finch. Finch was cool with that. The bigger birds went for the seed at Owen's feet while he hopped over to Owen's hand, latching his claws around the boy's thumb. Ouch.
Cacira smiled at his questions and the bird's response. Finch seemed like he was going to be a good sport for the time being. As long as there was bird seed in his sight he played the nice guy. She hoped the bird's response would answer Owen's questions. He needed to learn how to read the birds, and she hoped he had a talent for it.
Two other birds remembered her time as a bird keeper and her still frequent visits landed heavily on her shoulder. A stunning parrot pecked at her ear, demanding a treat while a american crow landed on her wrist. Apparently word of their arrival had grapevined down to them and they came flying.
Cacira whispered a few words of wisdom to them and they shouted foul sounds back at her. She looked over Crow for a bit, checking his old wounds as he whined at her. She knew parrot would be fine. He was a rude lil piece of trash that took immense pride in his appearance. If anything was wrong he'd crash into her window until she noticed and helped him out. Demanding little creature.
The thing about birds was they were just like people. The all looked different. They all had different personalities. You had to learn to read them right. Then, they had to learn how to read you. Friends? Well, that always depended on if you had a treat for them or not.
Oh, but, she had forgotten Owen. Birds were the nastiest creatures, planes above, but they instantly always had her attention. She said something along the lines of 'how are you doing' but Crow called out over her. Rude.

Owen could feel the tiny claws sink into his flesh, and it was painful. But it was a good kind of painful. It was the sort of pain that showed you that things were real, that you were alive enough to feel. It was all so strange, given this was all taking someplace very very far away from being alive.
Finch continued to pick at the seeds in Owen's hands almost greedily, until another bird came along to compete with him. A crested cockatoo of some kind landed on the same hand, and boy he was heavy. His arm dropped a little from the weight but he held it up for a little while. Eventually the cockatoo flew off and so did the little finch, leaving scratch marks all over his hands. He didn't care at all. If this was what it meant to be friends with them, he would put up with it.
He took a step back - almost into some other birds - only to find they were all squawking incessantly at him. They had run out of seed on the floor by now. Owen instinctively squat down and sat on the floor with them, legs wide apart and he clumsily poured the rest of the seed in between them. He held up some in his bare hands and watched as they came flocking, all shapes and sizes and all levels of grandeur.
"So many friends..." His voice smiled quietly.

Cacira smiled kindly at Owen despite irritating pecks to her head from Parrot and Crow's wings violently thrashing as they sought for her attention. Despite her living annoyances her attention remained focused on Owen this time around.
She winced at his scratch marks and the tiny cuts as the birds made their mark. Owen didn't seem to mind it, and for that she was proud. Strength of character, she thought. Even so the quiet mother figure in her protested.
With a few adorable child-like movements he was on the splayed on the floor dumping a bag full of seeds for the birds. They flocked to him, a whirlwind of colors and noises descended upon the boy and his pile of bird seed. A few squabbles over the seed broke out here and there, but generally the birds ignored each other in search of food.
Through the commotion she still riveted her eyes on the boy, though forced to step back as more birds descended. Ears attuned to a human voice she barely heard what he said- but she did hear it. She smiled fully, flashing bright teeth and crinkling eyes for a short moment, though regretfully hidden from sight by bird wings. Smile faded to a gentle tug at the corners of her mouth, but it returned once again in a split second as she noticed the absence of pain in her ear and wrist.
She turned from then now, and made her way to a pillar to watch and rest.

He hadn't even realised Inkidortes had gone. The birds, all squawking in his ears had him occupied. This much attention was being placed on Owen and he seemed to like it, somehow. Birds fought with each other, all clamouring to get a bite of the seeds he had. Some beaks battled against each other, biting the boy's hands and fingers by accident every so often. But the pain didn't bother him, neither did it matter. All he cared about and enjoyed right now was all the movement, all the colours... Here he was, in a place where he could meet all of them, be in their company. And they were real.He held his arms and legs out, all manner of feathery creatures taking turns to land on them. His figure teetered and staggered as he sat there, the weight of them all constantly changing, taking off, landing. He couldn't believe the sensation. He was seeing, feeling, breathing it all in. It couldn't be more real than this. A small smile spread on his face and he tilted his head back, looking towards the top of the dome. A fragile yet bright laughter was scattered amongst the birds. He closed his eyes and surrendered his mind and body to the experience. "Let's... all be friends..." - end
