A good deal of time had passed since the goings on at the garden. It had not been fun. And even a month later and then some had not made her memories of that dreadful evening dim. Nightmares still plagued her, nothing like they had right after but occasionally there would be blood in her sleepless nights and the dead bodies of the few people she honestly felt any connection too. And one of the ones the seemed to be featured the most was Owen.
The bird befriending boy she called friend. She had left him. And while it had been some rather extenuating circumstances her guilty conscience had not let her rest since she'd made the decision to leave him. And worse still was the realization that given the chance to do it all over again she would've done the same thing.
So now after she felt was enough space and time she had decided to seek the boy out and apologize. Inquire about his health and maybe hope he didn't hold anything against her for hoping he could handle the situation he'd thrown himself into on his own. Stepping lightly she entered the bird keepers wing of the HQ. There was some notable color on some places as she walked along. Paint? Speckled and sprayed in places, like an accident? She did not recall seeing this on her previous ventured here but let it go. It was just paint.
Continuing on she poked her head around and into corners, ignoring the pitched chirps of warning from the feathered denizens as she looked for her friend. “Owen?” She called out softly, hoping her voice might carry more than it sounded like it had. There was a chance that he’d ignore her. A good one. But hopefully he at least came out and shooed her away if that was the case. She’d hate to get lost in here. Dark, beady eyes watched her every move. Beaks clacked in warning or in curiosity as she tried to keep her gaze at her feet. She loved flamingos but the rest of the birds in here made her shudder in remembrance of that hitchcock film.

Another day at HQ. The birds were kind, lovely things. Or at least for now they seemed to be. Owen was more detached to humans than he was to birds, after all. He'd made his round to all the feeders now, and he was filling up the baths around the bird room. They were elegant, mismatching pieces of garden decor from afar. From many times and places, thrown here with an afterthought.
The cardinal on his head turned to chirp at something coming. Owen didn't pay it much attention till it pecked his ear, and turning around with the multitude of birds, he saw her.
"Hello Sienna." He said, eyes smiling.

Sienna's trepidation it seemed was one sided. While the boy didn't smile or use much of his face at the very least his body language indicated there was no ill will. At least none she'd seen yet. She smiled warmly at her young friend and his feathered companion, Adorable. While she wanted to broach the subject of her leaving him to defend himself she opted to focus on his job. He had such patience with the animals. While she could she was sure with time she doubted she could be as attentive to so many all at once. It was quite a skill.
"So how um a-are the birds doing today?" She asked genuinely curious about the state of her sort of co-workers.
((Hurk sorry it took so long to reply Kishi but here it is~ ))

((ahh its ok))
"The birds are tidy." he said, before turning back to the bucket he was carrying. He lifted it and emptied part of it into the fountain here, and birds flocked to get clean. "Are you tidy?" he asked, noting she sounded nervous. She always did, and Owen could never tell what that meant.
The birds flocked all around Sienna, as if trying to follow Owen, and she was in the way. They squawked a little disgruntled at her, some flying instead of walking to get ahead of the others.

"Ah yes I'm um t-tidy." Such an odd expression but she was starting to find it kind of cute. The birds crowded around angrily making her uncomfortable enough to scoot closer to Owen as she fisted her hands in her coat tails to keep from grabbing the young bird keeper. He didn't need her latching onto him while he did his job simply because the birds frightened her. Ah they seemed really excited to get to their baths, that was kind of cute.
"And you? How are y-you holding up?" she asked eyeing one of the bird warily as it walked a little too close. Birds in the wild were much less scary than the ones here. Maybe it was because there were so many in an enclosed space.

"I'm tidy too." He said, looking at her, holding the water bucket over the next fountain. "Oh--" he spilt quite an amount on himself thanks to the sheer amount he was carrying, but it really didn't matter. The birds below him chirped angrily as some of them got wet as well.
Owen ignored them and walked onto the next fountain like nothing had happened. "Why did you come see me. Sienna?" He asked. "You don't come see me."

Sienna nodded, smiling a little as Owen splashed water all over himself. The birds at his feet clacked their beaks angrily and she placed her hands in her pockets, just in case. She'd rather they not peck her fingers out of spite.
His question caught her of guard somewhat. Ah well she didn't come see him a lot no but she had once or twice. It was just all these birds. Her gaze flicked up to him and then dropped back down. She was sure it wasn't intentional but that statement, it felt so accusing. So much so that the bit of will power she'd mustered up to come and see how he was doing wilted in an instant. A hand reached up to tangle her fingers in her hair. Should she not have come? Was he upset she'd abandoned him after all? Oh dear, she'd come in here to see how he was doing but now she just wanted to quickly excuse herself and leave. There was no way she could broach the subject now.
"I-I-I um w-w-w-was just s-s-saying h-h-hello." And now she couldn't even speak. Not that she was good at it to begin with but she thought she'd reached a nice comfort level with Owen but it seemed it was a short lived thing. Her guilt from leaving him was still weighing her down and much more than she'd thought. She thought she'd managed it pretty well but standing in front of him she just felt like a vile, despicable creature. "I-I-I-I c-can go.aw-w-w-way." If her presence upset him he'd never have to deal with it ever again.

Suddenly Sienna shut herself in again. It caused Owen to stop what he was doing and look at her, actually looking mildly confused. Water trickled out of his bucket onto himself and other birds below him, but it was as if he didn't notice.
"You can stay..." He said, not fully understanding her. "Why don't you want to stay?" As soon as he finished talking, it was as if he realised he was spilling water. He picked the bucket back up and continued to fill the bird bath, moving onto the next one. "What don't you want to tell me, Sienna?"

The sound of water being sloshed all over the ground made Sienna look up. Just enough to see he'd completely missed the bath he was filling. Looking up further she could see the look on his face as well. Confusion. So he wasn't upset? Ah she was getting herself all worked up it seemed. Her death grip on her hair was released and she tried to relax her nerves some as he asked why she wasn't staying and what she wasn't saying.
"Ah um." She started and stopped before continuing. "It's j-ust um." She paused again and walked over to face him head on. If she had to say this she wanted him to know she meant it. "Owen um... back... in that m-maze. W-we... we.. I left you. I should've s-stayed but... M-maxwell was.. and I just. I-I've felt b-bad about it ever s-since. B-but I had to go... and I'm sorry but i-if it happened a-again I'd d-do the same thing." It was the honest truth and she hated that she felt that way. Because even though she had done what was best for her, it hand't been what was best for him. She was so rarely selfish that when she was she always just felt so guilty afterwards. but this, this had been the worst thing she'd ever done since coming here. She'd just abandoned him so she could save one friend over the other.

As he put together Sienna's fragmented speech, he realised. Well that would be a good reason to be scared to have a simple chat, wouldn't it? Owen didn't really take note that night.
"It's ok." He shook his head. "I'm ok." He shrugged and got back to his work filling the baths. In truth he really didn't have an opinion about whether she had stayed for him or not. Although, leaving him and feeling so remorseful about the decision... That worry was something, right? "You thought I would be ok without you. That's ok." Owen's eyes smiled at that. She trusted him to be able to handle things himself. He much liked being left alone to cope with situations on his own. If he needed help he would have asked. Said something.
He recalled back to the rage he had then. His head hadn't been the clearest that night, although, it was never very clear anyway. There were things to deal with regarding the spiritually aware that night too, how could he stand down? Or be unable to walk alone in those circumstances if it was something he fought for in his after death? His entire life at HQ had all been about gaining his own independence again, and this was just one more step forward.

Sienna wasn't sure what to expect from him so she tried to keep her mind neutral. She was misreading a lot of things and his lack of emotion made it all that much harder. Thankfully his response was not only positive it also freed her of some of that pent up guilt. He liked that she'd trusted he cold deal with the situation? Looking back he'd been handling the wild child much better than she'd managed and she did recall thinking he was doing a good job, even if it had seemed nuts that he was doing it at all.Hopefully there wouldn't be a next time, but just in case she'd file this conversation away for then. It was herself that needed to do better.
Feeling better now she walked over to steady the bird bath he was filling so more water didn't go sloshing away and onto the birds below. "Thanks Owen." Was all she said, more than happy to let the matter slide back into obscurity. "Can I help?" since she was here she wouldn't mind giving him a hand.

Owen saw her coming over and made his job a little easier. He smiled with his eyes and continued to pour the water. "Thank you Sienna." He said to her once he was done pouring the last bit of water. Help though..? He looked at her curiously, holding his bucket. He looked down to himself, thoroughly soaked, and then back to his bucket.
"Wait please, Sienna." He said to her, before running off for a moment. The birds gathered around her feet, chirping and flocking to the bird bath. It wasn't long till Owen returned with a full bucket, spilling some on himself again, but it didn't really matter to him. He ignored her standing by the current bath and moved onto the next one, calling her over. "Hold it please." He asked almost monotonously, ready to pour the water.

Sienna nodded, happy to be compliant for the time being as she helped him tend to the birds. Once he walked away though she was suddenly surrounded by the feathered creatures and thus she was a bit anxious. her gaze flicked down and her mind lulled into a blank moment before the caretaker called her over again. "Ah right!" She replied and moved the birds gently out of the way so she could follow him.
Stopping where he was she held the bird bath as he'd asked. All was fine and easy until something on her face spooked her. She reached up swat what she thought was a stray hair when a spider dropped onto her hand. The ear piercing shriek she let loose at the sight was probably loud enough to hear a few rooms over. The bath was shoved away and she darted off a few feet or so and began frantically trying to get rid of any other spiders on her person. Her angry screeches and whimpers continued as well.
"Get it off, get it off!!!"

He barely responded to her screams, but realised soon enough why she was being so frantic. Her cry had agitated some birds, but Owen just took the bold step forwards to her without even looking down-- those things were agile enough to avoid his feet.
He would have simply swat away the spider he hadn't spotted yet, but with the bucket in his hands he threw the water at Sienna. He hadn't really registered what he'd done until it was done. "Is it off?" He asked, now holding less than half a bucket of water, still spilling some back onto himself.

When it came to spiders being on her person Sienna pretty much lost all logic and sense and just became a mewling, screaming, frightened animal. Doing all she could to be rid of the disgusting creatures. So she didn't even register Owen's actions until the water hit her. She froze, staring blankly into the open space between them. Water dripping from her hair shook her out of her stupor though and she slowly focused on her friend and slowly pieced together what had just happened.
Oh... OH. Oh dear. a spider and now she was soaked, but surely the nasty critter was off of her. Afraid it might climb back up her somehow she skittered away from that spot and looked to Owen. "Ah I'm... sorry. But Um t-thanks." She said sounding grateful despite the tremor in her voice as she was now shivering somewhat under her soaked clothes. There was also a light laugh in her voice, obviously amused and a bit ashamed to have just done that as her cheeks tinted red just a little.
"Sorry birds." She said glancing down to them since he'd wasted their water on her. Oops. "Let um... k-keep filling them." There was no reason to stop now, they were both so wet at this point it would be silly to go change and then come back to finish to get wet some more.
