Sienna turned the page and was settling on just how to end this tale when her sole audience member yawned briefly and then giggled. He muttered his predictions to the end of the story and she took those into consideration. She supposed she could work some of that in since she was literally making it up as she went. Although it was good to know he was getting sleepy all the same. He needed to rest after all and here she was keeping him up longer with her silly imaginings. Clearing her throat she dived right into what she hoped was going to make a nice ending.
"The next morning the siblings headed out to face their destiny. They were afraid of course but they had each other and that was enough for now. Upon arriving at l. the foot of the mountain though they found nothing out of the ordinary. In fact they had a harder time getting here overall from fighting and traversing all the unconnected battles and traps. The mountain was desolate. It had been a nice village at some point but no longer. Like everything else it was colorless and sad. When they finally reached the top though they soon found the source of the color vacuum. A lone hue stood before them though it was more an absence of color . He was solid but barely there all at once, like a shimmering mirror. The massive form towered over the siblings but they charged on int to fight the monster assuming this hideous form was their enemy."
Another page was turned and the maid found her story had not lasted all the way to the end but that was a minor issue. "Every move they tried failed. The monster wouldn't go down no matter how hard they tried. Exhausted and hurting they regrouped to form a plan and it was then that their foe spoke. What it had to say was shocking and the siblings were unsure if they should believe it. Their villain who had destroyed their way of life had not done so for any selfish ambition. He had simply been trying to save his dying family. He had cast a spell without thinking about the consequences and the results had been staggering. He had turned his wife into a disease which had slowly sucked the color out of everything. And before he could try to stop it had ravaged the world and left only the siblings before him untouched. The only way to save the world from total destruction was to kill him but the only way to do that was by letting him absorb one of them and then and only then could he die and the spell he'd cast be undone."
"The siblings were properly horrified by this prospect, one of them would have to die. They'd always been together, how could the two left behind live without the other? In the end though amidst Yellow's heart wrenching screams and Blue's angry rebuttals red stepped forward. He would be the one to die, He was born to protect his siblings and he would so with his life. They protested but he turned his own weapon on himself and the twisted widowed color descended upon him. Soon hid shimmering nearly transparent body took on Red's former brilliance. The mountain shook under the powers of the two combined but as promised the forlorn color allowed himself to be killed."
"The moment he was felled the mountain flashed brilliantly. They're own leaking wounds mixed with their fallen foes and former brothers and the colors shot up into the sky in a most epic fashion and spread out across the land. The color was returning but it was even more vibrant than before. More colors then they'd ever dreamed took the places of the few shades of each color that had once been there. As if the sacrifices of all involved he'd made the colors crisp and new, or maybe they had always been there and it had taken losing them to really appreciate the colorful world they lived in. Whatever the case was the two siblings returned home in tears but triumphant. Eventually their heroic tale of loss and bravery was spread all over the world. The brother and sister were given the recognition and rewards they deserved but it never replaced their fallen brother. But they would live out their days riding out to fight other battles where color was oppressed and telling the tale of their brave sibling, the heart broken husband and the origin of all the color in the world coming from them. The End."
The book was closed with a definite thud and she yawned. She'd finished her silly tale and laid the heavy book on her lap. Her legs were getting tingly from the pressure of that weight sitting there so long but she ignored it in favor of tousling the Rainbow's hair affectionately. She was a bit too comfy to move and if her teammate had drifted off to sleep she'd hate to dislodge him and wake him back up or worse hurt him. So she just contented herself with idly playing with his hair and twisting his longer ends into small braids.
